Ei I thought OT was also dead
I thought so too. Some people just don't understand what OT is. :p:
"omg firewire 800 teh rulez usb lolz" :stick:

firewire 800 kicks usb 2.0's ass.
by ALOT
firewire 400 was just as fast as usb 2.0, and firewire 800 is double the speed of both
Cut that OT talk and go make a new thread under General Hardware.
DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard
DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard
can anyone tell me the difference between them ?

sli-D has Raid 0/1 and sli-dr supports dual raid, The Ultra-D is-non sli with
dxg instead.
More info read this:

UT = just mobo , lets call it bulk package . The pics posted 2 pages or so back feature rounded IDE , yellow SATA , frontX , sleeving kit . UT = none of that crap (maybe the ide's not sure) .
SLI-DR vs UltraD = supports SLI and doesnt , thats about it .

There probably is no way of running ATI "SLI" on this mobo...
I am willing to bet Nvidia did not seal itself off from the rest of the market. For now I bet they are going to take the spearhead of the SLi sales on their motherboards and then make a deal with ATI. Considering ATI is going to be using drivers for SLi and the NF4 SLi can configure for two 8x PCI lanes the ATI cards will most likely be able to work through the two 8x lanes. Just because Nvidia has a physical connector for SLi doesn't mean there aren't two ways to skin a cat. But hey, this is just MY specualtion.

for $55 you can send it back to pcpower and they will convert it to a 510-Express or a 510-SLI and you are all set for the DFI. Contact pcpower for the details.
Damn, this means my PCP&C 510W vanilla is now basically obsolete with the newer motherboards :cussing:

that would make sense, Nvidia dont want to lose sales on GFX and MoBo chipsets , 50% of somehting better then 100% of nothing.

Alright guys, fight's over before they close the thread.
Back on topic, I heard today that now DFI now expects their US shipment on 1/24.

My friend did this with DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR (sample) with a Vapochill LS.
RAM was not in 1:1 as he told me, just to test the CPU (3000+, 0441, coz X9 is max)
He told me 400HTT was not a problem for this MB, I want more pictures too.

Do you know if is possible the same with Antec?

Antec only makes one model which is sleeved and has PCI-E support, that is the NEO. It's a whole different model, I assume they won't do it for you.

This is pretty much my take on how SLI mobos will work with ATI cards, if they locked out ATI they would leave themselves in legal hot water.

Would they do that if I had done some modding to my unit already (such as messing around with a different cooling scheme, pots etc)? ;)

Might not be close to OPP's Phase change super cooled monster but a 3ghz 1mb cache FX-55 with two R520s in AMR config will be a decent gaming rig at the end of the summer. :D
omg... you just made me ink... :slobber:
i read a review of the SLi boards at toms hardware and they said they were able to work Sli without a connector, the drivers were didn't like it too much but it did work.
they also ran one ATi and Nvidia card in each slot, and the nvidia card actually was harder to work than the ATI, with nvidia you had to keep un-installing the ATi card and rebooting, but ATI's card was able to work just fine with nvidia.

What? give me a link to that. I don't really trust tom's hardware, but that is some nice info.
yea me neither about toms hardware, which was why i was reluctant to even mention it.
the thing about the sli connector is on this same article, but here is direct link to ati and nvidia together
http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041123/sli-performance-32.html
Edit: maybe i was wrong about which card plays nice and which is difficult, but i know one didn't have as many problems.

I read that. Looks like they rendered 2 seperate images instead of 1 image.
I sitt cant choose:
6800GT or X850XT and this talking about SLI and ATI cards also working with SLI doesn´t make it easier :(

You beat me to it klisp. just like you said. it's basically the same XLI thing in dfi that allows you to use 4 monitors. they were unable to get the ati cards to work in dual rendering for 1 single image. All they were able to do is basically bench on either the ati or nvidia separately using multiple drivers without having to swap cards. oh well, back to the drawing board.

Has anyone here ever pre-ordered an item from ComputerHQ before? I was thinking about pre-ordering the DFI SLi but i'm not sure how it works. Will they notify me when the board comes in with info on the exact model and price before they ship it to me?
And one last measurement in UT2004 without the SLI connector hooked up, 1600x1200 4xAA/8xAF:
With SLI connector (2 cards): 153.3 FPS
Without SLI connector disabled (2 cards): 133.0 FPS
Single card (1 card): 101.1 FPS
thats a quote from the performance analysis, with ATI and nvidia they rendered two separate images, but in the UT2k4 with two 6800Gt's they rendered the same image without the SLI connector.

Skip, I see your currently running a P3. What's your next big upgrade ?

Im just glad ATI is doing it the simpler and more elegant way. God forbid if I somehow break the connector or lose it somewhere.

The difference is that Nvidia way work on any motherboard having 2 pci-E that u can plug ur grafix card on
Ati way will only work on chipset and board using their technology

Any word on when ATI will actually have their solution available?
