I'd be more impressed if we had seen multiple passes on test #5. I'll bet that won't even boot into windows.
I'd love to be wrong though :toast:

At ONLY 3.2Vdimm and 2-2-2-5 AND 300MHz it is IMPOSIBLE as for me no matter on what platform..... :stick:
I think that it must be Memtest-86 that showing crazy things - aka older version - OR your friend may uses a multi of ".5" and memtest shows those crazy things........NO WAY at 3.2Vdimm and 300MHz 2-2-2-5..... :D
PLUS it is TOO LOW Bandwidth@1417MB/s at 300MHz EVEN for only one Ram stick...... :D

Seems to be 7.5 x 300.00 MHz = 2250MHz?
I don't know but shouldn't the clock chip give something like 300.xxMHz, not exactly 300.00MHz? :bs:?

i also had no luck running 2x512MB TwinMOS Speed Premium 250 2-2-2-5 @ 3,3 on a P4C800-E PAT enabled while they did 260 2-2-2-5 1T on K8N Neo2 also @ 3,3
try 2-2-2-6 makes a hell of a difference for me. up vagp to 1.8 if you can. please try again :D

I mean if you multiply 300.xxMHz with 7.5 wouldn't the total be 225xMHz?
I wonder how accurate the clock chip is?

my guess is this
300x7.5 so the mems are actually at aprox 266MHz
it's nice for 266MHz even at 3.2V try 1T :slap:

why is it 266?
i thought to figure out real ram speeds with .5 multis:
7.5x300 = 2250
round(7.5) = 8
2250/8 = 281mhz.
i thought would be at 281mhz, 2-2-2-5 2t.

The point is that I would actually like to see some indication that you can use windows with a degree of stability rather than a photo of mem-test.
I could go into memtest at 10x300 but there aint a chance in hell I'm getting into windows at that speed.

BTW, that screen is impressive, 1T or not.
the question is not so much 1t or not... it's a question of whether or not the DFI / MemTest are reporting the speed correctly... I'm leaning a long way towards some glitch going on there...
BeSaiD
01-23-2005, 04:17 PM
but if setyotomo went to his friend house and put the mem speed at bios it should go at that speed... I don't know if i'm talking clear, my english is getting better, but it's not perfect :D
Till i don't see any windows screenshot, i'll assume that's a Bug. It can't be real, at least at 3.2v... if it's true, they are the chosen modules, the perfect ones...

I knew what you meant. I was just playing around with words...your words actually.
Winbond BH-5 has often been referred to as the King when it comes to ram and I was just staying with that theme of bowing down to royalty, as in Winbond UTT...the new King? There is no disagreement that those sticks are special. They were special from the beginning.
My personal opinions are that while some of these chips are simply awesome, the fact you've got to feed them so much voltage makes then unattractive to a large number of people. I am playing with some of these, but since I don't have quite the available voltage as some, I'm not ready to sell my bh-5 yet.
Is this a joke, with 315FSB bandwidth is xtreme low.

Is there a way that he uses a multi for Ram - let's say 3:2 or so - coz even the bandwidth is too low........Maybe Memtest got crazy.........Ex. When I'm testing with the Prescott CPU and the "x14" Multi of it with the Rams at 3:2 and about 340MHz fsb , Memtest shows 200MHz fsb and 160MHz Ram with a bandwidth of about the same as my Rams are already at 226MHz which is true......BUT Memtest shows 200 fsb and 160 Rams........That's why I'm saying that a multi of CPU:RAM whould have been used and the Memtest just couldn't track it.......... ;)

now that's weird ...
can you try a different BIOS and get approx 315?
is the Voltage reading correct in CPUz??
how about max bench for sandra,pi??
maybe it's some kind of BIOS bug...
sorry for all of these questions but you understand your speed is way out of the limit
and we have to make sure everything is OK!
/edit have you tested those RAMs in a complete different PC ?

Noobish Question: How do you take a screenshot of a BIOS SCreen or Memtest? Is it just done with a digital camera?
i use digicam.. if you have manual options, try to set the shutter low maybe 1/15 or 1/20 with f 4.0 or 5.0 .. you should get rid of the "flicker" thing
that's cause cpuz momentarily does that when it first opens... try closing cpuz and reopening it again
done that before .. not working..
can you take a screenshot with CPU-Z, smartguardian, clockgen and A64 tweaker please?
Great mem speed though.
cannot right now .. i'm in my house right now..

Its deffintily nothin to drool about, there is a bug with the 4 multiplier. I believe it exist in every a64. I now it was there with my old old 3000 clawhammer and its there with my 3700 also. Sandra scores are just crap but it looks good. Everything will say that its running at those speeds but it really isnt. If everyone here with an a64 tried the 4 multi, they would get similar results. Now for Setyotomos, I think he got a cpu with the 7 mutli bugged. Maybe his 4 mutli is fine. But like I said, thats good for screenshots only, let see some sandra and pcmark at that and see what they get.

further proof that 315+ 2-2-2- memtest bandwidth is too low
on DFI NF3 250Gb with 3700+ cpu @ 9x 273mhz
2x 256MB XMS3500C2v1.1 BH-5 @ 273mhz 2-2-2-6 at 3.57v = 2000 MB/s bandwidth

i wish i had that computer here ........
i think my 7 and 6 multi are bugged, these are legitimate speeds, but for some reason sandra and everest are reading my bandwidth wrong.
it also could be that it is slightly unstable, so thats why its wrong.
i just touched my NB cooler, the passive one that comes installed, and it was pretty hot, i was surprised how hot it was, i'm probably going to need to put my microcool on it, i think it will just barely fit with my 9800pro.

I have a really weird "problem" with my TwinMOS UTT. At 3.1V I can't run CAS2, 2.5-2-2-5 timings at 240mhz is no problem but CAS 2 just doesn't work. I guess i need some more voltage and burning in :stick:

01-25-2005, 05:36 AM
Well, I just thought I'd try it myself and run my RAM at 300MHz+ 1:1.
I adjusted the FSB to 300 MHz and the multi to 7 and had the VDimm set to 2.8V. To let you all know, I run a Clawhammer 3000+ (CH-Stepping, very old), DFI Lanparty UT (Bios 10/15 4V Vdimm version with built in memtest) of course and 2x 512MB Infineon 6-A PC2700 RAM).
So, normally, there's no way this setup would boot at 300 MHz RAm speed, regardless of the timings. And furthermore, at 2,8V it's even more unrealistic.
Guess what, it booted without problems, even at 320 MHz. Unfortunately, I cant show you any pics (I wanted to, but that was a no go), because my board always rebooted before loading memtest. That's most likely because it's all at 1t (Clawhammer CH; can't set to 2t). Upto now, the highest I could really boot at (not only the message, but get into windows and run something) was about 270 MHz. ;)
Just wanted to let you know that this is a BUG for sure, 100%!!! :toast:

yes both pc will have a gig :)
cheapest gb i've ever bought ;)
and the bh-5 will be sold.
the bh-5 from the p4 isnt really tested yet,
3,2V vdimm and no vtt tracking doesnt really help with oc-ing the bh-5.
Gonna test it in the neo2 and gonna sell it then
btw pik-ard nice rig youre building there :toast:

If its not too much trouble...what's the date on those M.tec 50D ICs? New or older? If older, then those might be some relabeled ch-5 instead of the UTTs.

There are M.tec 50Ds and there are some 60Ds. In the 60Ds there are some that have, in addition to the normal date codes ending in 4, an additional "-50" following the date (afte a little spacing). These with the "-50" seem to do a little better than the others.
Edit: a couple of the guys here reported hitting 265-270 with these "-50" variety and as I've previously mentioned, Diablo23RD over at OCF hit 255 with his (2x512 OCZ PC2700 Value Series Ram) on a 3.2 P4. I think that add'l coding means something...but what?
Alonso, if you see this...is there anything to that additional coding on the M.tec chips which comes after the date?

Yours are the week 51 right?
Any chance your cpu or mobo is what's limiting you, since you hit that same wall with the TCCD?

I just wanted to add, since I have not, that when I got two sticks of speed premium a few weeks ago, and posted, I had gotten one stick of aa4t and one of aadt. I had posted I got two of aa4t. I was stupid and only looked at the first stick.
that first one has only been slightly tested - in a dfi lanparty ut with a super junky psu, I could only give it 3.2v, but it was doing 250 memtest stable. (couple errors, eliminated w/ fan). before I could give it a go on my good neo2, I went and fried that (note- the 24pin adapter on an OCZ powerstream is NOT optional.)
on my backup neo2, a junk refurb with a superbad 421 stepping or something, it was doing fine at 235, 3.4v, didnt go further with it, because I am testing the cpu overclock, and I noticed - it would not boot with a 166 divider. just would not - the "safe mode" kicked in eventually. Popped bh5 back in and the bh5 posts and tests fine at 280htt divided to 235, so it is defineately the ram. curious, anyone notice similar behavior? could jsut be this board, it is flaky.
the aadt stick went back to newegg, I am going to get a playmate for this aa4t as soon as it is back in stock. good 1gb kit for the DFI UT, or whatever future motherboard.

The "Divider Issue" is a known one with UTT modules... it happens with VX aswell. But it is only when the Neo2 is in the mix as far as I know...

I tried 3.6v (LOL :D ) and 258 fsb... first hour no problem... then I fell asleep rofl
After 2 hours I woke up and had thousands of errors....wtf.... memory didn't feel hotter than the first hour :(
Then I tried 3.36v and 250 fsb which went well :)
2x512 DC again... see screenshot
http://home.planet.nl/~dikke332/memtest.jpg
TEDY , it might be a board issue aswell. remember that most of the best oc results with UTT is from nF3/nF4 chipsets. (mem controler on cpu?)
from my experience i'm currently burning mine at 3.1v (3.15v at MBM) @ 244Mhz DC 1:1 2-2-2 1T. at 245 memtest freezes... so looks like board limit here. (244Mhz is good enough for AN7 tho :) )
now changing subject.
i'm using memtest+ 1.50. at 244Mhz i easy pass #5 but i have 6 erros (each pass) at #7. looking at everyone's burning's it seens like none cares with #7 test... everyone run #5 loops concluding it's 100% stable...
#7 is a random allocation test (something like that) so seens to be an important test, imho... but should i reconsider that and just stick to #5 results?

TEDY you running CPC on or off?
no way youll break 250 on an Nforce 2 with 2x512, especially with only 3.3vdimm...
i couldnt get my 2x512 bh-5 over 230 with cpc on, 245 cpc off... 230 was faster, each stick does 255 cpc on by its own though (3.3v). with 2x256 i can do 255 @3.3 and even 270 on a good day with 3.55...(CPC on)
yeah CPC ON of course :)
i'm running it single stick now....245 2-2-2-x seems stable at 3.3vdimm.
I'm sure sticks can do at least 260 with 3.5vdimm or si :P

I haven't been following this thread so pardon my asking but:
do only the speedpremiums have brainpower pcb or can the normal ones also have a brainpower pcb?
do the speedpremium only utilize a brainpower pcb or do some also use that other pcb?
how's performance between the two pcb's? is brainpower + utt chips better then that 6688 (or whatever it's called) pcb + utt better?

Wow.. been trying to read the thread. Lots of reading.
Its nice to see memory that performs this well for a decent price.
I mean.. any PC3200 Performance memory (XMS / Ballistix / Lvl2 / HyperX) run atleast $70 for a single stick of 256.
I can't belive that the TwinMos SP is less then $40 for a single stick.
I might have to jump on this, and get a few sticks. :)
