Does the X800 use the same mounting holes that the R9800 does? I have a old R9800 with a cracked core that I have been using for mocking on my old R9700 and R9800 mods, but I don't have anything for the X800 yet. (Maybe I'll just crack this core when I attempt to attach this new cooler  )
Does anyone have a nice 1:1 diagram that I could print out if the mounting holes between the 9800 and x800 are not the same? Or at least the measurements of them, and maybe the locations of the larger caps that can get in the way.
I really don't want to use a working card for mocking because of how rough things can get while I am setting up a WIP.

Excellent, It's time to start cutting.
I have an SP94 getting put on to my card, it probably will be finished tomarrow, I took off the bolt holes that stick out on the corners, I just need to put it on my drill press and drill out 2 little holes in the base so I can fit tiewraps through the fins. I'm going to steal this mounting method (Thanks for the idea comment):

It's done, here is a pic of the cooler, it looks spotty because I started poslishing the sides of the HS on a wire wheel, but got bored because it wouldn't help much. (I only have a really crappy fan right now so I decided agaisnt including it in the picture)

My temps went from 71C loaded to 36C loaded, this is with the little crappy fan, I'll have a good one here in a week or so. Sadly, my clocks only went up about 20MHz, apparantly X800s don't mind high temps.

Nice temp drop

Well the benefit will come when you increase volts ;) The SP-94 will cope with added heat A LOT better than a stock hsf could ever.
Btw, I guess you had to to make it fit, but shame you had to cut the heatpipes :(

They arn't cut, they are on the other side. If I put them on the slot side they would get in the way.
The heatpipes are awsome for high temps, but at low temps (Like these) they don't do much. when I was drilling out the base it was getting really hot and the heatpipes were the first things that rose in temperature, they were hot at their ends and in the base while the fins were only mildly hot. The temperatures they were working so well in were easily in excess of 50C though.
