Yup, did that! I even think I was the first to do so, right after the 7K was released.

Had a tutorial up in German forums. So if you got any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Hope the fan mounting is still the same with the 7.7K though. I don't know that.

Click those links for twoi pics of my former Zalman with a Delta 92x92x38mm triple-blade fan:

Leaky Capacitor from EOCF modded a 92mm Tornado on his Zalman, maybe search over there, he posted a tutorial but it was never stickied or anything.

What kind of temperature difference between that and stock did you get celemine?

I was thinking leaving the fan in the housing and putting it above the copper "blades" would allow the fan to pressure up better and adding say some duct tape or black tape around the outside of copper blades from top downwards about 1" or so would force more air past the "bottom" part of the blades..

Didnt get the CNPS7000 that was in town btw.

I've been trying different 80 and 92mm fans on my 7k-Cu for over a year now with great results. Forum member Zakelwe has been using some high powered 80mm fans and seems to like the results. Recently, I started using 120mm fans on the heatsink. Mounting can be a biatch,...but there are ways. You could even ust the zalman fan mount thingy. Just to try it out though, and see if you like it.....lay your case on its side and set a high cfm 120mm on top of the Zalman. A 120mm is the perfect size to direct air through the outer edges of the fins.

Well, the bad thing is, that I can't really remember. It's too long ago (I still had my Tbred DLT3C System back then). But I guess it should be around 5°C or more, depending on the fan used.

The idea with the 120mm fan sounds very interesting.

But what about a Zalman 7.7K with a Delta 120x120x38mm FFE fan? That would be a killer for sure IMHO.
