Wonder if it will fit SLi setup?

I've mentioned it weeks ago. :p:
A Dutch site has reviewed both heatsinks and compared them to stock cooling and an Arctic ATI Silencer and these Zalman coolers are superior in both performance and sound. If I wasn't planning on buying watercooling, I would definately buy these.

it seems like it WILL fit my Asus SLI mobo with 2 6800GTs in... but it also won't fit most of SLI board it seems. Dilemas, Dilemas.

Here is the review (http://www.tweakers.net/reviews/546?).
At page 2 you can see the performance and sound production.
I think it performs amazing, with the VF700-Cu at 5V it performs 6C better and it makes 6dB less noise.
The only negative thing I can think of is that it doesn't blow the hot air outside the case like the ATI Silencer does.

Err... frigging thing is at level of typical water cooling temp... jeebus. Now I am not sure if I should spend money to get blocks and hassle of running 1/2" lines....

50°C watercooling temp? I DONT think so. You must have seen someone with a very poor setup if theyre watercooling their gpu and getting 50°C

im waiting for a temp probe to measure the changes on my card
too bad i have such a :banana::banana::banana:ty card (it's mounted on a 5700 non ultra @ 545mhz voltage limited obviously)

Not as heavy as an SP94 and my card is holding up fine

I'm getting 30C load temps with a relitively quiet fan too.

i'll be getting one once it's in stock somewhere. however, i dont know if i want lighter (alcu) or better performing (cu) :\

3 with a 92x25MM fan and 4 with a 92x38MM fan. There is still easily enough room for 2 pci cards and does anyone even need one? Maybe for a SATA controller, but a high end IDE drive would cost as much as a high end SATA controller would.

Do it! Do it! Do it! You will get huge temp drops and using zip ties to mount it prevents you from cracking the core from overtightening screws, with zip ties you always know the exact amount of force you are pulling on it with. I havn't had any problems with the plastic streching out either.

I have a soundcard and a tv tuner. Plus a backplate for firewire and usb...

yes.
Trying to get a line on the vf700cu for my 9700 pro.. modded vga silencer rev 2 doesnt cut it over 1.85v ;)

i have the AlCu on my 5700... (for now it might be going on a 9800XT)
it's light... and doesn't get warm at all... and the core is up at 587mhz now! (default voltage though still havn't got around to moddin it)
but yeah... this thing doesn't put out nearly as much heat as a x800 would.. so id be interested to see... im sure it can handle it with ease

Wonder If it'll fit a 6600GT AGP.... and I'm wondering if you could squeeze OCZ Copper BGA ramsinks under it instead of the Zalman sinks

theres alot of room under the heatsink for large ramsinks... it's err... about 3/4 of an inch of room on my 5700
i think i might sell this heatsink since im done reviewing it...
i'll post a link once it's up

do you guys know of any stores that have this in stock now? My 6600gt is in desperate need of better cooling.
Pyrthas

Sharka had some in stock; they shipped just when they said they would (first week of January), so it's a decent bet that they'll have more when they say they will.

I've scoured the net looking for these, I want a all copper one for my PCI-E 6600GT, but can't find any in-stock as of right now.

Trust me when I say this guys. The new Zalman isnt a big deal at all. Take any cpu heatsink and mount it for better performance. The new vf700 is only slightly (or less) better then the previous heatpipe solutions they have.
*edit I know a number of stores but its in europe.
LSANTHRAX
01-13-2005, 01:01 PM
that may be but i like the look of these and noise is a factor here, that and they come with ramsinks which this card needs really bad so it seems to fit the bill perfectly, in my case.
bias_hjorth
01-13-2005, 01:05 PM
Well then again you might go for the fanless solution (the ZM80- Its cheaper, comes with heatsinks too and looks better) - Although I dont know if it´ll fit your card.
Kobalt
01-13-2005, 01:17 PM
the zm80 also weighs a lot and doesnt cool as well.
bias_hjorth
01-13-2005, 01:27 PM
The overall performance difference is minor. But try it out for your self - My advice- Find a old p3 cooler and use it insted. Better and way cheaper. Although it might not look that good.
*edit : the VF700 cobber isnt exactly light too.

Well I have the Zalman Heatpipe cooler, but I figure i'd give this new cooler a shot, I love the looks of it!
Hehe yup but thats what its all about isnt it :D
Definitely! Beyond a shadow of a doubt! Nobody is extreme anymore, they all want to know what ram to buy and if their cpu stepping is going to be good for overclocking ;)
Bring on the ghetto mods :p:
