View Full Version : should i pull the trigger on the MSI neo4 platinum?
looking at zzf's website, they are saying a ETA of today (21st for me) was wondering if i should get it. just heard about the ASUS not having a working PCI e lock. what about MSI? i saw a couple extremely high FSB's from onepagebook, but that was with a sample, should i expect that with a retail board?
any help is appreciated.

It's up to your decision, but I am pretty sure I will help;)
what i like about the MSI:
it has all Sata 300 ports, not half and half like others
It can do SLI, which i may or may not use
Looks so far like it overclocks pretty good.
I guess i'll buy it then, i doubt it has doesn't have a pci e lock, or else i would have heard about it.

The picture of it on their website doesn't have that yellow connector though for SLI.
yea, but i think it just old, because MSI released a statement, i think it was called like DBS, dual bridge something or other.
contrary to what you said OPB about mid-late january for the DFI i have been hearing like february march all over DFI-street, i really can't wait that long. but i need to know if there could possibly be a vcore mod for the MSI, i heard the ASUS board won't let you do it because of OVP, what about the MSI?

I'm eventually going SLI and i'm set on one of the MSI boards. I won't be getting a board though until around this time next year because the major bugs should be worked out by then.

DFI told me January about a couple of weeks back.

Save your money and wait for DFI if you want sli. just get a cheapo pci-e board for now if you must have a new board.
DFI told me January about a couple of weeks back.
am i referring to a different board then? i know they are coming out with two, and i know they keep talking feb/march. so which one are they talking about?
also can a regular x1 pci express card fit in a pci x16 slot? i was thinking that maybe i can just get a regular SLI board, and since i plan on waterchilling i might take up both of the x1 slots, so i could still be able to attach some card to a pci express bus.
i take up 2 slots right now with a tec, and i'm not using a tec for this setup, so hopefully i will only take up one. but i would still like to know for extra insurance.
Edit: found out i would need it as the neo4 SLI only has 1 x1 slot. but i don't know if there is anything i would need that is an x1 connection. if its that important i could also just buy a cheap intel platform for it.
