I was reading the FAQ for the board, I saw this:

TIP: turn off NV/ATI Speed Up in the hidden bios settings

what is that? does it make a difference in games? how do i access this menu to disable/enable this feature?

While the cursor is on Core Cell, hold down Shift and F2 for a few seconds, and then quickly release those two keys and press Alt and F3. You might have to do it a few times to get it right. You'll know you've enabled the secret menu once the cursor moves from Core Cell to the menu item on the left side.

on the 754 neo platinum, it cut my framerates by about 1/100; that is, at what was 100 FPS is now 1. thats with a 9600 non-pro RV360.

it limits your overclock, when i disabled it i could overclock more and was more stable as well :)

if your vga is under load (games, 3dm etc. ) your mobo will overclock your vga, so it can cope better.
The problem is that people overclock their vga's them selfs and if you dont disable the speed up, your mobo will overclock the vga even further, what could result in an unstable system

If you dont oc your vga, you can leave it on.
but if youre gonna oc, or if you wanna be safe and sure that your vga wont get unstable, you should turn it off.

i'm not exactly sure where i read it, but nv/ati speedup oc's your vga card by about 30mhz, which can put you over the edge with respect to stability.

as far as i know only the msi has this option..
but i don´t know for sure, i don´t have a gigabyte.
you could try asking it in the ultimate S939 mainboard guide - tweaking guide ,known bugs, and fixes (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46730) or in the Gigabyte k8NSNXP-939/K8NS Ultra-939 tips, tricks and guide thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47401) thread

It's tricky to open this option... there's something about the timing of pressing the keys :)

the way u need to time it is like that:
press and hold keys in such order: SHIFT F2 ALT F3,
then release SHIFT and ALT still keeping F2 and F3 pressed down,
hold it like that for about another second and release both instantly at the same time....

when you do it on the main screen, it will "blink" a bit - you're done :D

it works every time i do it that way ;)
