Hi
I need som really god ram for my S939 system. I thought that i wanted some insane 2x256 mb pieces. Have thought about some BH5 (probaly mushkin 2x256 mb). But i was hoping to use some that didn't require that much voltage to run approx. 260-270 mhz. I would like the timings to be 2,5-2-2-10 or so. Since it is a 2x256 mb kit that would be possible, or what?
Since my board isn't moddet i can give 2,85 volts (overvolts to 2,9).
Im not loaded (like others :p: ) Thats why i am going for some good OC ram i 2x256 mb for benching.

well Frede...then you need some TCCD ram, if your not planning on using more than 2.85v :)

Yup i know. But i can't find 2x256 mb kits anywhere around...Only 2x512mb.

Nice onces there. But they don't ship to EU. They have some nice things there though.
Found some ram PQI Turbo PC3200 R3 (2-2-2-5), looked in the TCCD thread an they are supposed to be TCCD with Brainpower PCB.
Anyone with results from them, remember i read about them once a couple of months ago. But can't remember the results.

the PDP XBL is tccd with brianpower pcb also :p
they are cheaper than most of the tccd with brainpower i have seen out there. good luck with your search

Im actually not that impressed by that test. I had 2x512mb OCZ EL PC3200 Rev 2 a while ago. They ran 274 i 2,5-3-3-10, and 297 i 2,5-4-4-10. Both at 2,8 volt. Got a very nice price thats why i sold them.
Think i want another of those kit again, they were nice.

you could get OCz pc3700 eb, ive seen 230 to 250 clocks at 2.5-2-2-7 with no vmods. TCCD doesnt seem to keep its timings much over 200 but who cares when you can do 1:1 to 250+*
*disclaimer: dependant on your ondie controller!

250+ 2.5-2-2-0 is more like it, 1GB kit.

Yes EB ram is nice but they aren't especially god in a MSI K8N Neo2 Plat.

whats the difference between a 0 and a 10 in the last timing? shouldnt matter on an a64 reguardless and I hear setting it below a 5 may hurt oc and stability anyway. also hes not doing vdimm mods so 250 is the highest ive seen at below 3 volts with most doing a little less. some wont even run ras-cas2, its actually rated 2.5-3-2-7. I think tccd would be a safer alternative and besides he would need to run async with that pc3700eb anyway. 1:1 is good for something like 260x10 or 290x9 if your ondie controller is that good.

0 Tras is much less stressful than 10.

I disagree...a tras below 5 can hurt an oc as well as performance. It also hurts stability. The other timings need time to work and with a tras of zero, they simply don't have that.

That's funny, my EB used to do 270mhz when I set tras to 0 on the DFI. I was never able to run it stable at 10 tras. maybe that's just me. or maybe it's just that darn EB? I haven't tried this much on other memory, but I'm sure everything reacts differently. Some tests I did with my BH5, I found tras 6 was best for 3d benches, but 10 was better in superpi and bandwidth scores.
