Hi,
I received last week my A8N-SLI DX motherboard. For now, I am testing it with an old VGA pci card and my PC Power and Cooling turbo cool 510 watt power supply(20 pin). Everything works great for now.
I of course want to change my PSU for a 24 pin one and also one that has 2 VGA pci-express (6pin) connectors for pci-express cards. Now I know that PC Power and Cooling are suppose to make new turbo cool 510-sli that has those 2 connectors and a 24pin (I am not talking about the 510 express here but a 510-sli) or should I wait for maybe a new OCZ??
Is OCZ making a new PSU that has those 2 connectors??
Any suggestions??
Thanks

Relax...Everyone can, though I'd recommend posting a similar thread in Xtreme Overclocking Forum as its more appropriate there.

Hi,
Yeah I saw that this morning!!
Just as I predicted!
But the thing is that I am getting tired of PC power and Cooling.
I have had 3 turbo cool 510 deluxe in the pass 1 1/2 years or so and this model is basicly the same as the new sli one except the 24 pin and its atx 2.03 compatible. It has the same peak and Amps on the rails than the turbo cool 20 pin or the express one.
I am in need of a fresh new model with new features etc.
What do you guys think??
Wait or buy??
LMK suggestions?

So get the OCZ600W, or wait for PCPC's 850W :slobber:

HI,
I dont think the powerstream 600w has the 2 vga-pci-express(6pin) connectors.
Mcklain
and you are against using the molex to PEG power adapters? too cluttered for you?

I never said I am against it, but If I buy a new power supply in the 200$ price range, I dont want to be using adaptors in the near future.

Nope it has one though: http://www.ocztechnology.com/images/products/accessories/b/cables7.jpg

If it ain't broke, don't fix it  If the PCP&C's have served you without fail, I don't see the point in ditching it for "features".
Heard something about that you could send in your PCP&C PSU and get it converted för 55$

Yeah i agree with you. If it runs fine, don't change it for "2 NEW CONNECTORS!". THat sounds a bit like TV-Shopping. They make you think you need so many unnecessary things

I was a tad bit worried about my newer PSU being able to handle full OC'd load on my a8n-sli w/ 2x 6800gt's, but they were unfounded.
I currently have a 400w (yeah thats right) Zippy.

+3.3V@25A, +5V@35A, +12V@30A
currently I have no stability probs running my 3000+ @ 2.55 and both cards set at 410core 1100mem
Although I did notice a drastic drop in OC' inthe vid cards when the second one was added i.e.:
GPU #1 : 420core 1180mem
GPU #2 : 430core 1200mem
So, I am not quite sure if it is because of the extra power draw of having both in or what... (also when I have only one hooked up, it recives power from two deticated molex lines converted with the PCI-E adpater, when I have two hooked up I don't have enough dedicated molex's so it shares with a HD, DVD, and the EZ Plug)
It would be intersting to see if I can run both at their individual speeds if I can them to have unshared molexes...
I just got my OCZ PS 520W today. And it had 2x12v and one 6pin PCIe connector. And it was the same on my friends 420W. Seems like there is a new rev. out now.

I'm currently selling a new Antec NEO 480 that runs my FX55/ 2 x 6800 Ultra SLI rig just fine. See HERE (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=51474) if your interested. This PSU is quiet and offers plenty of power for SLI.
I did switch to the PCP&C 510 SLI because I already had it on order when I bought the NEO. The PCP SLI was on back order and I needed a PSU to hold me over so I got the NEO. The NEO did just fine. The PCP&C SLI didn't change anything OC wise when I swapped it in.
I think any high quality PSU over 450w will work just fine. Just try to get one with native PCI-E connectors and 24 pin ATX as these are the new standards.
EDIT- BTW, something you should know about the PCP&C SLI is that each of the PCI-E leads is own its own dedicated 12v rail. Then there air seperate rails for the mobo/cpu and the drives. This is an important upgrade of the SLI over the non SLI PCP&C models. Its more than simple connections. I received this information directly from PCP&C.

Now that is interesting. It means there are 4 dedicated +12V rails, which is not necessarily good. I wonder who makes those PCPC PSUs, I know some are made by Fortron and some by Zippy, but I've never seen any other PSU with 4 +12V rails, the closest competitor is the Enermax, one of their PSUs has 3 +12V rails : http://www.enermax.com.tw/main.php
Check out that website and laugh a bit, Enermax think their are the only one on the market with dual PCI-E connectors, lol.

I haven't "tested" the PCP&C SLI to prove what they have said. It is rather questionable about the hows and whys of having 4 12v rails, but I must admit, the 12v is indeed rock solid. Two heavily overclocked 6800 Ultras in SLI, an FX running at 3.2ghz, multiple atapi and HDs, a water pump, and assorted fans can't even budge the 12v. So, whatever they are doing, it works good.

The final result is all that matters, what's inside it's not that important as long as everything works well :D
