My friend mailed me his sp-97 since he has athlon 64, but when it arrived, one half of one of the sides has bent pins. (who woulda known....it was shipped via ups). The pins are bent towards the other side (theyre bent inwards). Ive bent them back a little, but its not going to be perfect. Is it going to matter that much? or will it matter very little since the damage is restricted to the topmost part of it and only on the outside(its bent down for like 1cm or less) I wish i could post a picture, but my digicam is out of batteries and it needs a special battery that i dont have... attached is a picture of the area i am describing.
also, what kind of difference are we talking from a slk947 to this? arctic silver 5... 52 cfm 92mm.

Just bend them back as straight as possible, it shoulnd't make that much of a difference provding you bend the copper fins back so each one doesn't touch.
I'd say the performance difference between all the SLK9XX and the SP-97 heatsink is pretty small with the same 92mm 52CFM fan, maybe 5C degrees at best with a better 92mm fan like the Vantec tornado, my tornado running at reduced speed off the 5v rails performs better than my YS-Tech 92mm 50CFM fan at full speed.

5C is quite a lot to me, considering i wont do 2.5ghz cause that brings my cpu up to the 50's load. but if its high 40's, then i wont care as much. The fan i have is the 92mm enermax controllable one. it can do 4xcfm 52cfm or 64cfm. at 64cfm the noise gets pretty loud so i usually use the middle setting

5 degrees... no way...I'd say 1 or 2 at the most...I can't even tell where the damage was so I can't think it will make that much difference

Ahh...I see...sometimes I'm blind...or was distracted by who i was talking to...anyway still I don't think it will make very much difference. A few bent fins aren't gonna be the end of the world...good luck with that thing
