ii hate noise and, after seeing unseen's chiller i got thinking and finally came up with this design. basically the chilled water that the evaporator cools in the reservoir is used to cool the condensor (a water cooled condensor or course). that way all you'd hear would be the compressor and the pump working without the anoying sound of any fans. the conensor would also act similar to a heat exchanger in a dd system since the chilled water would cool the refrigerant well below ambient. yes, i know you'd need a pretty powerful pump but would this actually work or did i just waste a few minutes in paint :banana4: :banana4:

i'm a newb, but cooling the condensor with the liquid would just raise the temp of the liquid and it wont cool anything? cos the heat from the condensor needs getting rid of, it would be like a loop, the heat trapped in the loop so the liquid wouldnt get cold? or not cold enough?

i dunno just a thought

that would become an endless cycle of heat building up, wont work. if that was possible, the world would have no energy problems...or something.

Yeah, that would be an endless loop unless you could some how cool the liquid in another way as well, which still wouln't buy you anything. The A/C unit would simply be adding heat since the heat the compressor creates would also be added to the mix.

hmm... the thought that the heat would continuously build up from the condensor and be injected back into the reservoir never really crossed my mind until you guys mentioned it. the condenser would have to be given a "head start" in order for the system to function somewhat propperly, right?

You could try something like this...

Actually no matter how large a head start you give it, the compressor still burns up in the end. 2nd law of thermodynamics garentees that the condesor always gets "hotter" (gains more energy) then the evaporator gets "colder" (loses energy).

with the valve thing why not just use a real quite fan and just some of the water to help it.
