OCWorkbench is an old rivaling team from our previous project, DF.

They closed out the project in 4th... while we trailed in 5th for the finish...

http://anteater.blueprint.org/cgi-bin/trajstore?globalstats=1

As of now in DÂČOL they are keeping our 9th place position warm :D

hey guy's, i will have my farm back up soon, have been haveing trouble with powering the rigs, circuit breakers kept triping when they were all on full load and that was with a dedicated ring just for the pc's so now i have 2 dedicated rings for the pc's, one for upstairs, one for downstairs. got 3Kw UPS on each of the rings aswell now instead of the single 1.5Kw UPS i had before :D

I'll try to get a good picture tonight for you guys. ;)

On a related note... we had someone flip thier Blazer over in the ditch outside our house yesterday morning around 3:30am. After seeing the person was OK and helping him flip it back on all fours... the thing that upset me most was that he took out 3 sections of our fence... our fence that had Christmas lights on it. ;)
http://www.adventurevision.com/somepictures/Blazer01.jpg
The "X" is where his tires first went in the ditch...
http://www.adventurevision.com/somepictures/Blazer02.jpg

It's silly but I was more upset about the lights than the fence. ;) After he came back around 12:30pm and I helped him get the truck back on the road(yep, he drove it away) he paid for the fence and the lights. So what do I do... well I just had to get the fence back up and fix the lights. :D Sad, sad, sad... I know. :p:

at least he was honest enough to come back and pay for it, was he drunk when he ran into the ditch?

at least he was honest enough to come back and pay for it, was he drunk when he ran into the ditch?

I seen something about this on the National News!!!!!

There is this Christmas crazed maniac who has covered his house in so many lights that people driving by are blinded and often crash!!!!

Many have been taken to the ER with burnt retinas. Scores of youth have been permanently blinded by this guys lights.

The EM field radiating from the property is blamed for an 86% increase in cancer and infertility...

Officials have tried to cut power to the grid where the home is located... but officials are quoted as saying "There are so many lights... so many... It seems to have created some sort of fusion reaction and is now self sustaining!"

I guess this guy lives somewhere in Maine, NY... Do you know him Jeff?

Disposibleteen
12-13-2004, 10:00 AM
lol, that would be fun, self sustaining christmas lights that are super powerful, id run them 24/7!

Jeff

at least he was honest enough to come back and pay for it, was he drunk when he ran into the ditch?

Nah... seemed more freaked out than anything else. We live on top of a hill where the wind blows pretty damn good on one side... and hardly at all on the other. This creates one side of the hill that's wet... and one side that's a frozen sheet of glass. We've had 3 cars in the ditch at one time before.

The only other person to flip was this guy...
(damn... lost the picture in my last hard drive failure)

It's pretty crazy sometimes but to be honest... it gets people to slow down. Those that are in the accident and those that pass by remember this sort of thing for a little while at least.

And no Rodzilla... I don't know who you could mean? Our lights turn off around 10:30pm so that wasn't what he was aiming for. ;)

Well, we have about 310 nodes at 2ghz average (a guess) which should make about 600Ghz :)

i might call that average a bit low unless you guys are all running Xp-m and Pentium-m systems...

what about the nodes that are hiding behing a single node in the stats

i have a few nodes that friends are temporarily letting me run for the christmas push. they are using the same nodes as my rigs so i won't be left with dead nodes afterwards.

Single digits now :D

Rodzilla
12-30-2004, 05:42 AM
That's sweet!!!! They are a rather large Distributed computing community. They are involved in several projects and they do well in many of them.

I wouldn't relax just yet... if they pull all of there resources they can easily make a push for our spot... we haven't lost a single place the entire time we have done this project... let's not start now!

You dedicated Crunchers at OCW always have a home here if things get to slow on your team! We welcome one and all! Maybe we can help fire up your forums and get some support for your team... Post a "We just got passed" thread in your boards and we can come by and drum up some friendly completion (Drop by here and post a link)... it would be great for both teams and the community as a whole! Give it some thought... we would love to help out and get a friendly competition going on.

This brings up a question I've been wondering about. In some DC projects, AMD machines blow the doors off Intel machines - more IPCs, etc. etc. Is this true of d2ol?

And in a related question, would a dual Athlon MP machine out produce a dual Xeon, given roughly similar mHz?

-Scott

jjcom
01-06-2005, 03:45 PM
you something like 2.4ghz Athlon dualie compared to a 2.4ghz Xeon dualie...mmm...I would think the Athlon one would. But it depends on the FSB...

jjcom

Jeff

In the past 24hrs my 2x3.25GHz Xeon rig produced 336 candidates. Hopefully someone has a dual AMD rig to compare to that.

Big Deel
01-06-2005, 04:17 PM
I have a athlon mp1900 dually. It runs 2x1700 mhz. It's production is not even close to that.I do not think even the higher mp's would do those kind of #'s.
It would take dual opterons for that.

Anyone using dual opterons ?

Jeff
01-06-2005, 04:21 PM
I hope someone has dual Opterons since I've been very curious what they do D2OL wise. The other thing I'm curious about is power consumption. This Xeon rig is only drawing ~250w.

Disposibleteen
01-06-2005, 04:22 PM
thats alot of draw, (compared to other electronics and lightbulbs...) now multiply that by how many comps u have, i bet your electricity bill is through the roof....

Rodzilla
01-06-2005, 05:30 PM
Yes but you have to consider that a a64 pulls just as much power and puts out 1/2 the points...

Grumpy
01-06-2005, 06:50 PM
My dual 246 gets no more than 280 Candidates a day I think, about 32 Candidates per CPU per Upload Period :( The HT Xeon seems to smoke in D2OL :( Of course, running Win XP SP2 slows it down..W2K would do a bit better ..

D2OL seems to be more Mhz dependent from what I can see..my Barton 2.26 on W2K does 35 per upload .

OCW is capable of making a move in D2OL... you just need to get your admins on the forums behind it! Maybe some front page news or a forum announcement, stickies in really hot sections of the forum... PM inactive users. Maybe team competitions / contest. It's not like you guys are starting from the bottom so it's that much more appealing.

It would probably be VERY helpful if you guys had your own section of the forums... as apposed to a community DC forum... it's chaos in there... just to find D2OL related threads and hook up with fellow D2OL members.

I know OCW has the nuts to support a good D2OL team!
