Will this combo give me some good overclocks.....i know it's hard to say,but at least i get some advice.
I read some pretty good reviews on the Patriot 1GB pack, and there are a few XS members that are quite satisfied with them.
I can't seem to find any other boards that are more suitable for overclocking other than MSI,but it's riddled with problems. Are there any better boards out there? Some say DFI have come out with a 939 mobo, others say they have cancelled it.
Help people! I'm overclocking on a tight budget here.

MSI is the one.
Yes there has been problems on some, but most are fine and they are dam good overclockers, Get some OCZ 4000 Ram, or Ballistix 4000, with the winnie 3000. Will do 250 x 9 with mem 1:1 @ 1T easily

That's a good combo, I'm running the same thing right now except 2x256mb of Patriot TCCD, running smooth at 2.6ghz. :) It really depends on how good the 3000+ itself is.. if it's a week 40+, you should at least see 2.4ghz if not more.

You wont have any problems o/cing 1:1 as the Patriot XBLs are TCCD Chips and use Brainpower PCB 815s

i think i choose a pretty nice piece of RAM to use...
:-)
wish me luck guys.

I can't seem to get as good of clock with my 512x2 PDP as you did with yours. How many volts are you running through them?

Looking at your sig you are suing a diff board so that might be why and dont forget that memory controller plays a big part.
From what i know you can hit 260Mhz easy at 2.7-2.8 vdimm with XBLs.

Try increasing Vcore to give the mem controller on the A64 a little kick. Also, might want to start with 2T, and "conservative" timings, and after you find your Mhz ceiling, go from there. If you have SATA drives, might want to test with EIDE drive. Also, make sure you are first testing with low HT multi, and CPU multi, to find max for the RAM/ mem controller...
Above all else, results will vary from mobo to mobo, PSU to PSU, CPU to CPU.. etc..
Perhaps try OCZ booster for the RAM.

you have 2x512mb dual channel with winchester? hmm I say you can run your ram async using the 166 divider. If you can get 280fsb, running 166 divider should place the ram at 225MHz I recon. You will want to keep the t1 command rate too, big hit going t2. winchesters arent known for good ondie controllers, I can barely hit 200fsb t1 dual channel. I am going tccd too but I dont have high hopes. I may sell my winchester and go thru a few before I can find one that has a so-so controller so I can get ddr500 clocks.
edit: it may help going to 8x multi and 300+ fsb that way you can try for 240MHz on the ram and 2.4GHz on the cpu. This may be better than running async with 9x multi unless you can get near 300fsb on 9x

What gave you that idea Geforce? Because the one you bought won't do it? That is the same way you came to conclusions about the over-clockability of Radeon 9500, 9700 and 9800 cards. Honestly, with some of the statements you make, one would think you'd have more to base your conclusions on.
From everything I've seen, the vast majority don't seem to complaining about their Winchesters' memory controllers. But you think you may need to go through several before you find one that can run memory at 250mhz?? Maybe your cpu just doesn't like memory your currently using. Or, maybe your Winchester 'pwns' you....and your memory.
A Geforce-ism summary from this:
1. Winchesters are known for bad memory controllers ( on-die is it, Geforce?)
2. Geforce doesn't have high hopes for good mem clocks with a Winchester.
3. But he's gonna keep buying them ( Winnies)....
4. It may also be the memory (gonna try TCCD). In this case, ignore Geforce-ism #1.
:D Geforce, you made my day. You are toooo funny, brother!
Yeah, I'm not too convinced it's a memory controller limitation on the cpu. This seems a lot like the burn in myth to me. I'd say it is something in the chipset, memory, user error, or overclocking skills.
