Hey Guys

After christmas, im planning on a upgrade..

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester 90nm (Socket 939)

The best NF4 mobo, prolly DFI

1 gig OCZ pc3200 Gold VX + OCZ Booster

Ati X850XT PE

2x Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM SATA 8MB Cache (Raid 0)

good HSF until i can afford A...
WaterChill KT12A-L30 Antarctica CPU/VGA/Chipset Extreme

I aim to overclock my cpu to 2600mhz~ with good HSF like Hyper 6
You can get 260fsb with the OCZ VX @ 2-2-2-10 @ 3.5v
I would like to run it like 8 hours a day+ stable to mainly play games, but winnie mem controller is crap ? i wont be able to do it 260?
260*10
@ 3.5volts on the memory, do i need extra cooling on the ram and ocz booster?

does the waterchill antartica chipset cooler cool the amd mem controller so it will be stable then?

thx

Boy are you confused...

First off the 3500+ Winchester runs @ 2.2 Gig. Assuming the onboard memory controller is "crap" because it won't run OVERCLOCKED @ 10 x 260 is technically ignorant. The CPU is not rated to run 2.6 Gig. let alone 10 x 260 MHz @ 2-2-2

And as far as the other hardware, DFI certainly ain't the best but chose your own poison. The best heatsink is a XP-120 or XP-90. The Corsair PC4400C25 is better RAM and will O/C to at least 275 with 2.5-3-3 timing in most Mobos. It will also run @ 2-2-2 for high O/C'ing. RAID O is a waste for games and slower than a single drive - PROVEN in actual tests - see www.storagereview.com for the straight scoop. Raptors have a high failure rate, as the numerous forum threads confirm.

You won't need to fry your memory modules if you buy Corsair PC4400C25 as it runs the above speeds at default voltages and in fact does NOT run as well when over-volted. So skip the OCZ Buzz Box and save $50.

Other than that your list looks fine.

Enjoy !
