got my vapochill pe yesterday mounted it on my 700duron and kt7a booted it up the evap temp hitted -18 and the computer booted went in to bios by this time the evao temp was -28 and i checked the cpu temp 30C! reaseated the cpu kitt and got 13C :( so i reseated it again and got 25C and raising, so what did i do wrong?
the PE cant be so lousy it cant keep a 700duron on the - side?

maybe the bios reading is faulty. you might be able to verity it with a probe/ infrared thermocoulpe
otherwise the block mightnet be perfectly flat, meaning the mounting or even the lapping

the temp readings must be off/from a remote sensor. when i first started using my MachII, i paniced when the cpu temp was 5c, so i kept reseating and got it to about 2c, and then realized it was the in-socket thermometer UNDER the cpu, so naturally it wont be that cold...

wait a sec, your using Vapochill PE on a duron700..... -_- wot a waste....
I hear lots of ppl complaining about their temps all the time... Im sure its just a fault with the motherboard...

Never trust temp sensors on motherboards when using phase change. The combination of insulation, heaters and lack of calibration of the sensors for that heat range means they have no relevance to the true CPU temp at all.

the temp sensor is the one under the socket, got it down to 5c now without any isolationg in the socket, could this be right?

yes, as i said, the sensor under the socket will always read higher than the actual cpu temp
