Housemates new PSU arrived today, threw it in and had a quick overclocking sesh!
Firstly, heres the setup:
2500M, "i" stepping, 0904
NF7-s v.20, running stock D25 bios (till bios saviour arrives)
2*256 corsair VS
430w Antec TruePower
sk80 (iirc, copper ally hybrid thermalright)

Its been running 24/7 clocks of 210*11.5 (2415) mhz 1.65v
After a little fiddling we got it to windows for a superpi run @ 2640, 220fsb in 39secs, at 1.75v which wasnt too bad.
But then things seemed to hit a brick wall, windows boots at ~2750 but re-boots on the "welcome" message. After a little more tweaking, she booted to memtest @ 2860 on 1.775v. However Ramping the vcore all the way up to 2.0v didnt see any improvement. The board just tended to siren at any higher clockspeed.
So any ideas on getting a little more out of this cpu? It would be nice to get ~ 2.9 benchable, maybe 3ghz to windows???! Higher voltage maybe? Could a burn in help a little?
Probably hoping for too much, but anything is possible... Temps arent too bad atm, cpu sits at ~ 40 deg in bios with 2.0vcore..

Cheers guys :toast:

2.86ghz on an AXP...thats very nice. Don't expect alot more than that on air. with phase or something you'd get more. 3ghz into Windows on air....drools

Yea thats kinda what I thought, but still it'd be nice to manage it... Just have a feeling this chip has it in it tbh, temps are good and the volts are low enough to be cooled fairly well.....

thats a great oc on air! dont expect anything better than that without better cooling!
that chip might be able to bench at 3ghz with watercooling or a thermaright sp94.

check vcore with a multimeter and see if it fluctuates, the later nf7-s boards have a crappy power phase circuicy and cant get a high stable vcore anymore like the older boards...

Would you class adding a tornado as better cooling? Might wait for a cold night to give it a shot as well...

Will check the vcore read tonight and see if its fluctutating at all....

<edit> could the addition of a modded bios help cpu wise, or is it likely to only be fsb related...?http://www.drunken-student.co.uk/pics/pc/2866.jpg
