Currently using a NEO2 Platinum and have 4 winnies all stuck at 2.5 GHz OC. Including 433 3200+, 441 3200+, 437 3500+ - all top out about the same place. Thinking about trying another mobo. Tired of playing with the Neo2, time for something different...

So how is the Asus A8V Deluxe Socket939 ATX Mobo?

(only looking for first hand exp please).

TIA
Dean

ASUS A8V is my first skt 939 mobo so I cant really compare, but I am dissapointed with it's overclocking abilites. I have a 3200+ winnie that i know has alot more room left in it but the mobo becomes flakey at anything above 285 fsb, meaning i can only hit 2850Mhz, which is not bad in itself but I was after more. Other than that I have to say it is an excellent motherboard. I have had no problems with it at all and everything just works :)

I have an A8V (rev2.0) too.. and with my 3000...it goes 270 x 8.5 at 1T..whic is okay..BUT..it seems like the board is undervolting my 12v raill..on my Neo...because I keep getting 11.6 with this board...but I get 12.01 or 11.98 with other boards. I also have issues with the AMI Bios...but thats because I have been used to Award Bioses for so long...and to get memory stable on this board at 1T...instead of manually setting the mem voltage (which results in instability at very low OC's)..setting it to auto allows it to remain stable at high HTT's...which puzzles/disturbs/and well makes me feel like i can't really seem to push my cpu...

So ....I'm not entirely happy with this board. Going to sell it and get a mobo from a different company (been thinking about the MSI Neo 2's) and probably stay away from Via based boards too since it might just be the via chipset too...wondering if anyone else has this problem withtis board..or if I just got a slightly flawed one...?

Hi

Well im testing some winnies 3200+ that wouldnt do 2500 in a Msi, on this asus A8v im running 2600 mhz primed for 5 hours now :), so im real happy with it, config is 2x512 Ballistix Pc3200 and a X800 xt pe. Running with divider now so I know its not memprobs, 260x10 and mem at 218, superpi is 32 secs, ill post later if its stable 24 hours.

It is a week 42 3200+ and htt was at 4x i think, might even be 3x. It has been running for a week now at 2750 no problems at all, mobo is unstable at anything above 275fsb meaning It will hang or reboot sometimes. It does this at any multi though so I am pretty sure it is the mobo. It will pass a loop of 3d05 though at 285fsb, wont even boot at 286fsb. One thing I dont get though is it wont run prime for more then a few mins even at stock speeds so the only way i am testing stability is gaming and general usage.

And I am having the same problem as prozac with the memory too. Everything at auto and it is fine, however upping the memory voltage and adjusting the timings are a no go. I guess my BH-5 just needs some voltage but even then the asus board has ovp pretection to 3.15 volts so I read.

Id be more than happy to break 2.5 GHZ stable. With the Neo2 I could prime for 6+ hours, the next run would die in 11 mins, the next 2 hours no changes to settings the it was stable one moment and not the next?

I think the board is just a POS in all honesty and look forward to moving onto something different.
