Bok from Free-DC wrote the main person behind D²OL to see what, if anything, is being done with our results... this is Wolfgang's response to his email...

The project is indeed running well and I have a meeting on Tuesday with Management to discuss staffing for a client upgrade. Based on the meeting on Tuesday I will write a more extensive update in the forums.

A sneak preview: We will probably have somebody in house by mid to end January to do the client/server update.

Also we hope to have some result back from collaborators at NCI-Frederick by then. The collaborator is testing the hits of our Anthrax screen in the laboratory on anthrax cultures.

I hope this helps, please keep an eye on the forum Tuesday/Wednesday next week for further details.

I for one have been curious what was actually going on with our results... and I have to say this is good to see. The only negative I've noticed with this project so far is the lack of updates from the D²OL administrators.

I am definitely following this.

Having them finally communicate with their contributors (us) is a good start. Hopefully they'll keep us updated as they say they will.

As long as they keep throwing candidates my way I'm a happy camper! :D

Here's a "Hot of the Presses" update...

D2OL Update !!!!!!

Funding for a contract programmer to upgrade the D2OL systems software and client for improved statistics handling has been approved at a recent board meeting of The Rothberg Institute for Childhood Diseases. We are currently in the process of procuring the appropriate contract programmer and hope to get somebody started by Mid- to End of January!

Furthermore, 400 compounds, representing the top hits from the IBS library, will be tested in the laboratories of our collaborator Dr Rehka Panchal against the Anthrax bacterium. We hope to publish results as soon as February of 2005.

With the upcoming statistics upgrade we hope to bring you “season-based statistics” to allow new-comers to actively compete against the veterans of D2OL on a level playing field.

Best regards and compliments of the season to you all!

does that mean the stats will be reset to 0?

Not sure really... if it's something lame though, I'm sure after enough of an outcry things will be put back the way they were. ;) (I really hope it doesn't get to that point though)

I'm thinking they are going to have a "current" stat and an "overall" stat. But that's just a guess.

If they decide to implement that they should keep it seperate from the normal stats IMO

You have a good point... Just my opinion... it wouldn't bother me either which way...
