hi to all i hav this problem today as i set my new directdie with evap from my friend eleven,1/4 hp compressor and R404.i load the system with gas and it works fine even without insulation yet i hav unloaded temps under -50 (i dont know exactly cause i dont hav thermometer to mesure under -50 ) but when i close the system my low presure raise over 110-120 psi,so after a while, when i want to start the compresor again, its starts but stops imediately cause of its electric or thermal protection i think. what is wrong ?

Well since no one else is giving this a shot i'll take a stab at it (though no garentee's on the validity of it)

My old watercooling rig used to have the exact same problem. It's caused by (when the compressor is shut of) the liquid flowing through the cap tube and expanding on the other side, changeing to a High pressure, low temperature gas. Now, because you compressor isn't on to suck this high pressure gas away, your suction line will rapidly increase in pressure, until the point where all the liquid has been evaporated and the gas starts flowing from the suction line and into the discharge line. When this happens, your pressures will slowly start to equalize and your low pressure side will fall. This can take up to half an hour or so on most models.

The only way to really "fix" this problem that I know about is to use a TXV, because they close when suction pressure rises (i.e when the compressor is turned off) and prevent any of the compressed liquid from expanding in the evaporator. This allows one to turn on the compressor pretty much right away after shutting it off.

I *think* this is what your problem may be related to. Correct me if i'm wrong.
