Do all of the 3.6Es have the good stepping? And do some of the 3.4s have it?

i think that the new 3.6e's are all E0 stepping which is very good... altho a small % cud be d0

I would guess that its going to be something like 25% D0 and 75% E0, since Intel was making the 3.6ghz chip before the E0. The D0 version probly didn't make that many since it ran fairly hot and Intel had to keep the chip within the thermal envolpe.

There are three 3.6's based on D0 stepping and 2 based on E0 stepping. Selecting on S-spec will allow you to ensure an E0 chip.

Guaranteed E0 stepping doesn't happen until 3.8GHz.

Intel is stopping at 3.8ghz though to work on the dual core correct?

so if I were to buy a 3.6E from newegg id be taking a risk?

Yes, technically you'd have a 40% chance of an E0...probably a little higher from Newegg, considering their volume.

Intel is indeed stopping at 3.8 GHz, but is going to add another 1MB of L2 to the Prescott.

They're hoping that that move will keep them afloat performance-wise until the dual core chips arrive.

All Desktop processors that have the possibility of being E0s:

http://processorfinder.intel.com/scripts/list.asp?ProcFam=483&NoNav=NO&CorSpd=ALL&SysBusSpd=ALL&MfgTech=6591&step=5420&cache=ALL&PkgType=ALL&btnFOS=Filter+on+selections

Notice that the 3.8 Ghz 570J (first one) is GUARANTEED to be E0 - as it has only one distinct spec number.

EDIT: The 3.0 and 2.8 LGA775 Prescotts have agreater chance of being E0 as they only have two D0 variations whereas all the others (3.6,3.4, 3,2) have three D0 variations.

You don't need to take a risk and guess whether or not you're getting an E0.

Any P4 with a J at the end of the model number, i.e. 550J, is an E0. Any P4 without the J is D0, i.e. 550.

oh.....so none of the P4s on newegg except for the 3.8EJ are E0? Cause Ive never seen any other processro with a J.

The only E0 available right now is the 570. All the others are nowhere to be found or out of stock at the few obscure stores where you can find them listed. Hopefully that will change soon, I'm waiting to build my new system.

Are the E0 550j 64bits ???
If they are I think they are the 3,4f ???

Is that right ???

Yeah, the 550J 3.4 "WITHOUT F" is NOT EM64T but the 550J 3.4"F" does have it.

Its really hard to find though: I only found one online retailer in the UK selling it.
