I just installed a new motherboard 2 weeks ago and now I think it's bad. I bought a new 300GB IDE Seagate harddrive last night and installed it. I went into windows(I have windows installed on another drive) and was formatting the new drive and windows locked up. So I hit the reset button and now the mobo won't even post. I unplugged the new drive just in case and still nothing.

Thanks,
Ed

Wow, you fried your mobo without even OCing it...Nice :D

How much juice(watts) does a 300GB harddrive need ??!!

3.4E@4.164 1.475vcore Asus P4C800E-Deluxe Rev. 2.0 droop modded & sinked

Boy was I wrong !! So I guess it ultimately gave in, though with your 2 Powerstreams, its probably not the fault of your new hard drive. (you running servers or something??)

BTW, how much did all of that COST !!!

Never really added the total cost up. I use it for my home theater that's why I have all the hard drive space for movies, music, etc.

Any suggestions

So I guess you should test your PSUs to see if they're all working. You should pray its a PSU problem. From what I hear, OCZ RMA is the best.

i installed a new hdd lst week and as soon as i hit the power button..bam psu poped..dead to the world now all from 1 added hdd..

wierd stuff can happen.

Wow that's crazy, I checked that and both PSU's seem to be working.

I just can't imagine that I fried my mobo just from this, I mean I even put everything back to stock before I put it in.

OCZ RMA is the best. I had to RMA some ram, ram ran at rated speed just wouldn't overclock that well, and they are extremely fast and nice.

You were right about weird stuff happening!!! I tried a different mobo, memory, PSU, CPU and finally GPU and still nothing. Turns out somehow my DVI cable isn't working cause I plugged a VGA cable in and BOOOOYA!!

Spent 2 hours on something stupid  Oh well I would rather replace a DVI cable than a mobo or anything else :)

I have a stack of dead motherboards beside my comp desk..
All intel..none amd :/
I've had an IC7, an IS7, Epox 4pca3+ rev2.0 All die in my current rig.. for no
apparent reason, it's possibly just the bios chip been faulty in each..
unsure.

Sucks though :)
