Hello everybody, ive been reading the AC chiller thread for the past few days and am interested in trying this, ive got a few concerns though, which are,

1. can you make a chiller that is reasonably quiet but still works well? I was thinking of 4x120mm fans on the condenser with a shroud blowing out with the whole thing boxed with another 4 or more fans blowing into the box. Are only the fans noisy or are big compressors noisy too>?

2. How much power will a 9000 or 12000 A/C use, i have 2 tecs now, 226w & 80w, and im hoping it will be cheaper (and better) to go this way.

3 Is it easy to have it set up so it will turn itself on and off when the liquid goes above a certain temperature so i dont have to wait for it to pull the temperature down all the time. I was thinking if its well insulated it shouldnt have to run much when there isnt any load, but i dont know how long it would take to warm if its properly insulated?

This is what ive just won on ebay, 12,000 BTU AC unit (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4337940342&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT)

1.yes
2.check the specs of the compressor :)
3.make it start yes, make it start only after the temp reached a certain level... no. you will have to buy a relay or build it yourself, dont know how hard it is to build...
