you know I think it is one of the first ones, It wont run completly stable without the Vcore.
When was the 1st prescotts released? I have had mine for about 1 year now, Is there a big differance on the later ones?

Thanks

First time poster but been lurking around for awhile. My 2.8 E is about 8 mos. old. My setup when I built this system: Abit IC-7 MAX3 , OCZ 4400 512X2, Intel 2.8E CPU , ATI Pro 128 ,PCPC 510 PS, Win XP OS... was watercooling (DangerDen TDX, Maze 4 and big RAD with 2 X 120mm fans). However I can only top 250 FSB on 1:1 that is stable and temps at load wont go down 55C.

Re-did my system by using a Vapochill LS and now I have the FSB at 279! Prime and Memtest stable for 24 hours with this system and load temp goes up on an avg. at 3 C. I can reach 4 ghz ( 286 X 14) at 1:1 but is not stable with memtest or prime95. I think I can push it if I up the voltage of the RAM but I am afraid to do so.

I have a 2.8e, also C0 stepping (old), coupled with AI7, but due to the crappy 17A on the 12V rail on the PSU ( I don't have enough money to upgrade the PSU to an OCZ 520W), even with watercooling, I can only hit 3.3ghz.....
1.535V

Seems like the old prescott cores don't overclock too well.

My system: P4P800 Deluxe, P4 2.8E (D0), Kingmax PC3200 256MBx2, ASUS FX5700 256MB, Enermax 465VE.... and Watercooling. I will reach over 4GHz (292x14) by clockgen but isn't stable with superPI 2MB. However it's stable at 3.92GHz (bus 280) folding tinker.

what are the main differances from the C0's to the D0's?
Anyone know?

Heat was slightly reduced. I believe it was just a slight change to allow the processor to clock up higher, since, as you can see, the first prescotts weren't nothing great. The first Prescotts weren't that great since they ran very hot and they were slower than the Northwood, so that wasn't very good lol

Arent the 2.8c Northwoods supposed to be better OCers on air than 2.8e Prescotts ??

Isnt that what the fuss was all about like almost a year ago when the Prescotts were coming out ??

higher speeds...
prescot has more chace .. = more speed in some programs
