View Full Version : €212,- well spend!
After waiting a couple of weeks for the local store to get a week 32 or newer CPU, i finally got mine yesterday.
It's a 3400+NewCastle 0434MPMW ver0.6 and i have to say it's darmn impressive! :D
Have a look at those screenies:
PiFast @ 9x316 2,5-3-3-7 :slobber:

SuperPi 1M 31 sec:

How bout over 5K in Sandra's bandwidthtest?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19711&stc=1
Check those timings at 321MHz! OCZ power!!
This is all watercooled by just plain water and a rather small Black Ice microII rad with 20C ambiant.
Not too shabby i'd say. :D
Nice clocks man :toast: Really good speeds coming from the newer newcastles.
Whats your max stable?

So now i order a new one also.
Mine just sucks afters seeing those screens =)
Those are the highest 2.5-3-3-x shots i ever seen i think with 512mb module.

ZEUS well done my friend.... :toast:
0.6 Version is just perfect :D
Now you need to update your Signature (ClawHammer => New Castle) ;)
Awesome results m8, just awesome.
Also a point we all need to remember, the ram is the same you were having issues with, a new cpu cured the problems.Memory controllers are making a huge difference here ;)

wow impressive results by watercooling!
heck I´ve had to use a prommy to get same result on a older 3000.
I bet you´ll hit 30 at 2910Mhz and a bit of windows tweaking / win2k3 :)

Thanks guys, it surely is one impressive CPU.
Like Bigtoe said, the memcontroller can really make or break one's overclock.
My old Claw barely reached 270 1:1 stable and now look what this RAM is capable of.
Gonna loosen the timings and see where the RAM will max.
Looks like i have to update my sig indeed :D , will do tommorow, off to bed now.
I don't think 2910MHz is within my reach for a 30sec run, i was a little dissapointed that 316x9 didn't show 30 sec.
Oh well, only got this CPU yesterday, there's plenty of ground to explore yet. :)

good god, this overclocks better than my winchester and youd probably be right around the performance of my winchester too(dual channel here) gonna try for 21k marks with ti4200? ;)

Don't know about this 4200, maybe one day when i'm bored.
I still have this 4800se that did 345 core with stock cooler, already voltmodded and everything and i also have this DD maze4 laying around, so 21K could be taken down with my current hardware i guess.
Mem on this card was real gay, irrc artifacts appeared around 720 or so, that was why i lost interest.
For now i'm setting my sights on other benchmarks like PiFast and SuperPi.

0.6 Version is just perfect :D
Well, I don't hink that 0.6 has anything at all to do with the OC-Ability of the CPUs. It looks as if the iMC has been improved, but my tests with the 0.6 CPUs were frustrating.
3.000+ (Week 42) 0.6 = Max @ 2.250 Mhz (1,62V Air Cooling)
3.000+ (Week 44) 0.6 = Max @ 2,340 Mhz (1,65V Air Cooling)
3.400+ (Week 34) 0.6 = Max @ 2,620 Mhz (1,65V Air Cooling)
This is not very impressive, since I sold my 3.000+ (0.5) for one of these "beauties" :stick: and the old NC did 2.550 Mhz @ 1,55V :dammit:
Yeah you could say that the memcontroller is improved, how's DDR626 2,5-3-3-7 at 2.9V errorfree in memtest test5?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19759&stc=1
At 2,8V it maxed out at DDR620, with 2,9V i get this DDR626 max. :)

hope you get bored fast because 21k or more is my goal with winchester and tccd dual channel but that wont happen for a few months yet. I need a strained silcon winchester with an improved ondie controller so I can get 273x11=3GHz then with my ti4200 21k or even 22k will be mine all on air :D dont worry about artifacts, I run my ti4800se ram at 760 artifacts ;)
Thanx guys, it's nice to show some nice numbers again. :)

LOL, yeah, it's just plain watercooling in an 20C ambiant.
In the coming days i think i'm gonna put my case outside to see if there's something left.

If it won't happen for a few months, why hurry? :D
Don't know man, maybe just one day i feel like a challenge and fire that thing up...

Simply Awesome Zeus !
Have you done any mobo mods to get the HTT stable that high ? Mine craps out at 320 no mather what I do,i'm either suspecting the mem controller or the weak OEM chipset cooler.
Could you post a CBId screenie ?

High HTT?
That aint high. :p:
This is high:

To answer your question, no i didn't do any mods to this mobo, not even did i swap the chipsetcooler or the thermal paste under the chipsetcooler.

Thanks Zeus !
That's one sick high HTT
Now I'm convinced it the CPU's mem controller holding me back.
Going to have to go hunting for a week 32+, I guess.
2700Mhz on ~1.5 v that's one quality proc!

as soon as the ram I purchased off ebay comes, I will bench then vmod my ti4200 and bench again and I think I can take out your old 20k score, might motivate you, eh? :D

Nanobot raise the Max async value to 10.

Thanks for the tip Ubermann :)
Lol that's one of the few settings I haven't touched, everything else is tweaked :D .
I just tied it and anything over 9 gives me the dreaded "Detecting nvidia raid array " message.
Your RAM seems quite different than mine, you stated in a previous thread yours doesn't even boot at 2.7v and it responds to voltage -->not mine.
I manage to get 1 stick of my rev2 stable at 290 2.5-3-3-5 @ 2.7. Seems to be the sweet spot for me.
Going to try for better with the max async latency set to 9 .
The more time I spend tweaking this board the more I'm second guessing going to socket 939;most 939 mobos dont seem too stellar at the moment.

Sometimes a setting make detecting drive..and on next boot it works.
Buggy..
