RAMMER

Just picked up a stick of geil PC3500 ultra to try to get some tighter timings as my cpu is all done @ 3409 or 170 /223. i was running Corsair pc3500 @ 2.8v 2-7-2-3. It took a little burn in, but all is good.
The Geil is rated for 2-6-2-2 @433. Right now the max stable I can get out of this stuff is 164/219 @ 2-7-2-3 using 3:4 strap. Voltage has no effect on stability. I know it's running close to what it's rated for, but I thought it would perform a little better.
Question is: will burn in cure this ?? Should I RMA and try another stick ??

You may want to consider turing that stick in to the Geil Bad Ram Police. You should get better results. Anything that is mass produced will eventually turn out some bad fruit.

You should be able to get better timings w/o burn-in.

You could just send it back, gete a store credit, and wait for the insanely fast Dragon Gold to come out. :slobber: :slobber: :slobber:

I'd return it and get OCZ DDR500, their RAM has been making huge performance and fabrication advancements, their really evolving into an industry leader. And by the way I've heard GEIL's claims their ram is "real 4.5ns" is in question, here's a quote from a BlargOC review;
"OCZ's closest competitor in terms of performance is GeIL, who claim to manufacture their own 4.5ns chips to put on their own PCBs, creating lightning quick true DDR433 ram. However, some say these chips are just re-badged 6ns Winbond or Samsung chips, that have been lapped down and re-stamped. This would make much more sense as their website states a 2.7v - 3.1v operating voltage, which is vastly greater than this OCZ memory; and it would also stop it from working correctly on my BD7-II motherboard. I'd love to test some of this sometime, as I am VERY skeptical of this memory."
Here's a link to that review, for your reference;

The quote I found is on page 5.

I had the exact same issue with the Geil ram. Don't bother trying to get support from them. Its been over 3 weeks and I've not heard back. I second the notion for getting OCZ. But if you dont' want to wait, get thier PC3500EL Looks like a winner.
