How much per day does a "AMD Athlon XP 2600+ "Barton", 333MHz FSB, 512K Cache Processor" pull down?

@ stock speeds? uhhh i don't think many people on this site have a stock 2600+ or at least they shouldn't. :p:
if i had to guess i would say about 90 or so.

It will be OCed to @ least a 2800+... but stock what does it do?

My wife's XP did 132 over the past 24hrs running at 2.33GHz(~160MHz FSB IIRC).

are you serious??? i just checked my AXP-M 2500+ 200x13=2600MHz that has been running for almost 7 days straight and it says:

Avg per Day - 128.622
Past Week : 883

where did you check that, Jeff?

my xp-m 2600 now at 2650mhz does about 135 if i don't play games. Jeff is that just your wifes comp or is there more than one on that node?

It's node number 107559. Last night it had 34, 33, 33, 32 showing when I checked. Right now it's showing 33, 32, 23, 27(115 total).

oh, so it looks like every conformer is not equal. actuall, that's right... there are different times for different candidates so once you can hit 150 but other tim even 100.
so there's so UNIVERSAL measure for each nodes performance...

I nottice that to,the last couple days i'am doing 116,119,and early'r i had allways arround 135,145 and 150 sometimes, but the counting will take longer now.

My xp-m 2600+ is at 12/208=2500mhz now,and i had/have the feeling that it run's better at 12/200 then 12/208,mem at 2-2-2-11,it can do better but need new psu, this one is at his end,but 11/250=2750mhz can be done with new psu.

I think I'm going to upgrade my new 2400+ Sempron rig with one of these chips... I just wanted to know if it would get me any real increase in performance or not...

The Athlon XP 2600 that Jeff has running does a little more than my 2400 Semp... :( I must say that I was hoping for quite a big difference...

Maybe these Semprons are just the cats Meow when it comes to a cheap cruncher??

Damn, thats annoying, it gives me an indication that my xp-m isnt performing that well!

do memory speeds help more than high multipliers? if so ill just have to take my memory to 220mhz! (currently 200mhz with 200mhz fsb)

I really want my pc to be getting 100+, but none of mine are

im getting about 80 a day!

The fastest computer in the world doesn’t mean squat to D²OL if it can't use its recourses...

You need to make sure that D²OL is using 100% of your CPU and no page file.

Your mem could be running at 20000000MHz and it wouldn't mean a thing if you have D²OL on your page file.

What can cause this?

1.) Not having enough mem
2.) Using your rig bumps D²OL out of the way for other task
3.) SPYWARE takes up mem and sometimes all of your extra CPU cycles.
4.) VIRUS same thing...
5.) Memory leak. Sometimes apps do not release the memory addresses that they are using. When they need the memory again they use a whole new address range and don't release that either so you spill over into your page file.

Ahh i see, thanks for the info, i need to get another stick of memory in my pc, as its only got 512mb, so i might get another 512mb and be happy

well I'm low on ram also (512MB) and looking for some more ram also :D

So thanks for the tips (btw my systems are ALWAYS bug and spy free :) )

hehe

BTW D²OL'rs mind reading my post at the "XS is on fire " thread( one of teh last pages (8 or so? no? or 6 ) )
:)

i could be wrong but i swear i have read articles that show windows xp's memory performance decreases when you use more than 1gb of total ram. don't remember how long ago i saw it so maybe it was patched, or i was just dreaming. :p:

Nope, your not dreaming, there Used to be a real bottleneck, as windahz xp wasnt optimized for more than 1mb of ram, but i think there has been a hotfix, i might upgrade all my pcs memory, as my 2nd and 3rd rig only have 256mb.

i really want to get my dads pc folding, cause he has got 1gb of ram, and its a 2.8ghz p4! but it makes the psu get louder (really need a new psu for that pc!)

Hmmmmm... Under normal circumstances 512MB of RAM should be plenty... Unless you have lots of other things open/running.

Well, my OS install is pretty much screwed, i need a new hdd, then i will reformat and see how many i get per day!

i think my avg per day is going up slowly

Sickapotamus
11-23-2004, 01:49 PM
i agree with rodzilla 512 should be plenty to run applications and everyday stuff. the one and only reason i run a full 1gb of ram is for texture memory for games because they look alot better and run faster. if i just used my comp for apps for work and stuff i would run 512mb. 256 causes a little too much page file swapping or thrashing at times which is annoying.

I use 512Mb in my dual CPU rigs and I run 4 instances of D2OL on them. Mind you they do nothing but crunch but 512Mb is enough so that the page file isn't used.

Finally, i found a cure for my problem, my avg per day is now steadily going up:

1) timings were totally screwed!
2) CPC (command per clock) was disabled

sinced ive changed the timings and enabled CPC ive noticed my main rigs avg per day has gone up by 5 and still rising, i really want to hit 100 a day for this rig before christmas :D

ive got a little lappy project, weve got 4 laptops laying idle, so im going to stack em all and have them all folding d2ol with a kvm and hub, so they all will be as one node (just to make it look better than it really is)
