I think it is a reg hack. Not sure where in the reg though.

Anybody?

Can your GPU go higher than 400? Or is it just a theoretical question?

powerstrip only goes to around 430 mhz on the gpu slider...You see guys like Oppaniter and eveyone with the highest 3Dmarks score going above 430 on the 9700 GPU.

I have a peltier cooled and volt modded 9700 that has plenty of headroom left if I could only make that slider adjust higher.

Ant info on that sir?

Definitely not, and I didn't even know the 9700GPU could break 400Mhz. That's amazing :D

Thanks...

You have to install it it twice, first you install Pilsys deal, the 3D Tweak, then you install powerstrip. Crank the powerstrip to about 390 then install Powerstrip again. While the first one is running at 390. When installing the second one make sure it's making a different folder, I just add a 2 when it comes up, so it's in the powerstrip2 folder. Now close the first powerstrip and open the second, it will see your card default at 390 and give you plenty room for Overclocking, around 500 with this settup.

Thanks OP...I will give that a try.

My hats off to you and that 2400 OC/score...pushing the limits..sir.!

I have a 2400 just waiting for the proper cooling.
Kd-7 should be here Monday.

Trying to stay in the top ten on AMD and Intel.

A lofty goal yes...

Possible?..We will see...

At least I am in the top 5 AMD at the moment on MO...

Old man trying to crack the top ten hall of fame..LOL!!!
Cheers OP..and take care...

ok it worked, but how in the world do you get that high?

my 9700 craps out at 360/337.
is that below average or something?
this is unmodified.

Kunaak,
You will need the volt mod and some xtreme cooling such as water cooling and peltier or phase-change.

There are some people who get lucky and their cards will do over 380 and some as high as over 400 on the GPU core...with just a modified CPU heatsink to replace the stock ATI heatsink setup.

Some may even be doing this with the stock cooler i can't really say for sure.

be carefull with that volt mod....

take care.

"You will need the volt mod and some xtreme cooling such as water cooling and peltier or phase-change."

I have a MCW50+T to cool the R9700.
so cooling isn't a problem.

The volt mod will help.

Make sure that shim around the 9700 GPU core is not keeping your block form touching the core.

I had to make a small size cold plate to fit inside the shim. If I put the block on the 9700 with out doing this it did not even touch the core at all. The shim gets iin the way.

I would remove the shim carefully if you have not already.
