The stepping of my p4 3.0Ghz northwood is D1. I heard that this stepping just purely sucks for ocing. I am wondering if I can get this processor to 4ghz on temps like 30C? it has to live for at least 8 more months. thx in advance.

yea... you know those D1's... couldnt OC one hz over 3050mhz... :(

dude, dont sweat it. you've got already 3ghz. that aint bad no matter how you look at it. you can probably make 3.4-3.6ghz out of it. what do you honestly need more then 3ghz for? please... enlighten me... because im doing fine at less then HALF that...

you wont die. trust me on this one.

lol...30C w/ 1Ghz OC.....most likely no......and your cpu likely to suffer Sudden Death Northwood Syndrome a few months down the road..... :p:

I had a 2.4c D1 and it wasnt bad at all, I know there are much worse. Here's a suicide screenie with it

It was stable at 3.4ghz. That's on air too. With a 3.0c, I would probably expect 3.4-3.5ghz.

dun wry so much. Northwood generally are good OCers. Even the worst one can probably squeeze out 400-500mhz for a long term usage.

D1 is the latest and most popular stepping for the 3.0C Most owners are happy with it, including myself. I can run 3Dmark at 4Ghz at ~30C.

Weird, i had this processor at 3.9 on stock for a few weeks, seemed ti be working fine @ 1.65 volts. I have an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe rev 1.xx. I heard that there is a special bios for this mobo that would let me unlock my multiplyer. What if I increase the multiplyer my 2 and up the fsb to 230. That would give me 3.9 already, wouldn't it? Is increasing the multiplyer a bad idea?

M0 is the latest stepping. ;)

1hz, if it can run at 3.9ghz... why are you asking if 3ghz is enough to last a few months?

not really had a chance to overclock it yet just stuck it at 220fsb as i no my ram will do that without any voltage changes (3.3ghz) next thursday i shall take it to the edge though :)

EDIT: nvm me beind blind found out mines a D1 as well
