Hey everyone.. Just recieved my shuttle, fx55, and 2x 512mb GSkill memory. I am having trouble overclocking this thing. I can get 14x 203mhz 2-2-2-5 no problem and runs perfect. i can get 13 x 213 2-2-2-5 and runs perfect. anything higher wont work. When I run 3dmark05 with settings higher than above it gets halfway through and closes the program or sometimes reboots the computer. vcore = 1.6 vdimm= 2.9 chipset voltage= AUTO, agp voltage= auto. Memory clock= auto (options are 100,133,166) I have tried loosening the timings to 2.5-3-3-7 or 3-3-3-7.

I have a pair of KHX 3000 256mb memory modules (BH-5). Should I give those a shot.

Temps are around 35c
Any ideas or thoughts would be much appreciated

Loosen those timings a bit, 2.5-3-3-7 seems to be the norm for 260+ fsb around here, and try from there. If not, you might have a CPU issue :(

Gskill does not like high vdimm, you're running 2.9v, run 2.65/2.7.

I have already tried 2.5-3-3-7 and i cant even get past 203fsb when the multi is at 14.

Try running 15x200 and report back usually when a program like 3dmark quits partially thru a run its more than like the ram.

well there's a couple things to learn about the sn95g5. set everything a volt higher than its suppose to be.

cpu - 1.6v
ram - 2.8v
chipset - 1.7v
agp - 1.6v

make sure you dont have cool n quiet enabled or uninstall it at least, it screws up the multiplier and causes warm boot problems on these sn95g5's

make sure you lower the LDT/HTT if you're overclocking. for now just set it at 4x if you arent going above 250fsb. if you go past that, then set it to 3x.

What kind of video card are you using? Dont forget your shuttle only has a 230W PSU so I would check the voltages with a multimeter too. 230W PSU is really way to small to overclock a FX55 that high.

the shuttle psu's can handle just about anything. using a multimeter the rails are solid. 12v @ 12.11 // 5v@ 5.04 // still havent managed to measure the 3.3v line. But anyways this is all under load.

Alex08--> whats the highest fsb on the SN95G5 that you'v reached?

310 with clockgen, bios only allows up to 280

310 - with 2x256mb gskill
285 - with 2x512mb pdp xbl

everything with 2.5-3-3 timings and a64 tweaker

I have tried 15x200 and the system turns on but no video. I have to clear the CMOS to get the system working again. I have a 6800gt video card. I have also tried 4x HTT and no go

yeah 1T 1:1, i don't think i would ever run 2T.

yike - have you tried just lowering the multi down and seeing what max your mem can do at 2.5-3-3?

maybe try something like 10x275 for now. it just may be that the max of your cpu is around 2.8-2.85ghz

sounds like you're having the warmboot/coldboot problems. if you check out sfftech.com, there's a whole thread on this.

wow you got a nice setup alex :)

i would be exstatic if my sn95g5 3200+ 90nm would run at 2.5 ghz.

i have PQI turbo memory. installation happens tonight... my first shuttle!
