For my English class I was tasked to create a bunch of poems for inclusion in my personal poetry anthology. I, being a computer geek, decided I would do a couple on overclocking and benchmarking (not that I'm especially good at either :p: ).
Anyway, here they are. The first one is a Tanka and the second one is a ballad. Enjoy, and tell me what you think. ;)
BURNT ELECTRONICS
Burnt electronics
A waste; also a trophy
Too much voltage or
Inexperienced users
I love the smell of ozone.
And the second one doesn't have a title, yet:
'Twas six o'clock on a cold autumn eve'ning.
The window was open and there was a breeze.
Supper was ready, but beginning to cool.
The record, I thought, would be mine with ease.
I o'erclocked my PC 'till t'would clock no more.
I closed any other progs and proceeded to run
The program that for days I prepared.
"Ha-ha!" methought, "today shall be won!"
It ran the first test just as fast as could be;
Then ran the second with similar fastness.
Numbers three through to seven were also très quick,
Mostly due (but, of course) to my Ă¼ber l33t badness.
I posted my score on the net
Prepared to get praise, respect, adulation.
A few commented, politely congratulating.
But where in the world was my standing ovation?
And then I beheld a most unwelcome sight:
My score, I realized, had already been beat.
"Curse these foul benchmarks!" I spat on the ground.
Oh, no! It appeared I was no longer l33t.
Who knew school could be such a fun creative outlet? :D
