Hi, I would like to know if anyone here has any information about Dothan Overclocking. I`ll receive a IBM T42 Dothan 1.8Ghz in a few days and i do want to overclock it. IBM also ships the same T42 but the dothan is clocked at 2.1... The cooler is the same. Chipset i855. Its a Notebook
Thanks!

Sure, battery wont last long if OCed, but at 1.8ghz it gives hours of work, overclocked I may lose an hour. I want it do do 2.2, people are getting 2,4 ou 2,5 but in destops. 855 has PCI-Lock. No voltage adjustments are beign required to reach 2,3-2,5 Ghz in Desktops and the CPU only dissipates 28W at 2,1Ghz. Pentium M multipliers are locked upwards, downwards you can set them freely. I will probably play games in this notebook and Im very excited bout it. A 2.0Ghz Pentium M just outperforms a FX-55 in farcry (dont belive? here: http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=dothandesktop&page=11) There is also the speedstep feature that will reduce the CPU frequency when cpu is not 100% in use, that will increase battery life and reduce cpu damage problems due to overclocking. I just would like to know if anyone has already overclocked a notebook here and wich utility to use. I have no idea how to overclock intel.
Thanks!
let us know the results, if you are going to go ahead, :)

I believe theres a program called....CPUMSR maybe. It allows multi ajustment incase that helps...I'm not sure about FSB ajust ments tho. Maybe a desktop FSB ajustment program for that chipset will work?
