Hehehehehehe....

Strolling through the local BEST BUY store, I wrap my hands around the BFG TECH 6800GT OC, and I'm walking around the computer section looking at lappies...

ENTER 17 year old "spiked hair" customer service representative:
"How's it goin? Findin' everything OK tonight?"

Yeah, sure I'm just grabbing this VC... want to play some DOOM3.

EYES of SAID CSR perk up:
"Oh DUDE! You're gonna love it man! It is sooooo bad."

Yeah, I've heard the graphics are pretty good.

LIGHT goes on in head of CSR:
"You ever heard of a Radeon X800 XT "PLATINUM" Edition?

(trying to contain myself) Yeah, it's the top VC right now... you have any in the warehouse? Any available for Order?

CSR Smile beaming:
No, nobody can get 'em. I've never even seen one... until 2 hours ago. A guy got one online at BB.com and returned it tonight 'cuz his board is PCI-Xpress and this card is AGP. It's "open box", you want it? We tested it, it works fine... you should see it playing Far Cry, dude, hehehehehe....

(trying to act cool) Open box? Hmmmm.... that kinda' sucks. Is there an open box disount?

CSR acting powerful:
Sure, I can ring it up as an OPEN BOX model! No problem! You can return it if it doesn't work for you, do you want it?

(wry smile)
Yeah, I'll take it!

good deal, ive seen people get the vivo and mod to xt but you got the real mc coy! I can see why you sold the winchester, it wouldnt respond with below 0 temps. dont u still have a fx53 at 3.1GHz using dry ice? Havent seen a 3dmark score from you lately nor from anyone else for the matter, must be that low temp problem winchesters and some fx55s have thats keeping the orb stagnant :( that spiked hair kid is sure funny

and x800xt's arent AGP? or do you just like to tell random stories about what youre planning to do with your own setup in other people's threads?

does anyone care what you plan on doing "years from now"? Not at all, if they did they would start a thread called "GF4, what are you doing years from now", for the love of God stay on topic for once
and didn't you spend the last 5 months talking about how youre not upgrading until you can get a 3ghz winchester? now youre saying you wouldnt upgrade until 4ghz winchesters? WOW, you amaze me...

Charlie, how many x800xt's do you have now? if you plan on ever getting rid of one, pm me and i might take it off your hands :)

$437.99

I would hate you, if x800xt pe werent so rare and I didnt have one.

You must remember I live in the UK(state of the art stuff gets here much later than you guys get it. Six weeks ago I was hoping to get an x800xt or a 6800 ultra. Well you know the answer to that not a cat in hells chance :(

But Scan, a major online retailer in the UK, had some glacier 6800gt's in stock, so I thought "Might as well settle for one of those.

Well this retailer has counter sales also and I also live a 10 minute drive from them, so decided to go down.

I get to the counter and ask any ultra's or x800xt pe's in stock? Well you can imagine the response I get from the guy at the counter  . Wrong ;) He checks the system nothing in stock. But he then says "I'll get xxxxx to check in the warehouse he nevers lets me down". I'm thinking yeh right, this guy is just going to conjur one up from thin air.

But low and behold he returns with, what I think is an x800xt pe :D . No such luck its a damnded pci-e card. Sales rep realise this and tells him to look again. VAn turns up outside and hands warehouse guy delivery list. Guess whats on the list, one Asus x800xt pe      .

Bad news is it cost me £387, good news, they are as rare as rocking horse manure.

Regards

John.

I'll pay you $438 if you want to sell it ;)
That way you'll have a massive $0.01 profit :D

11-11-2004, 05:50 PM
do i class as being even luckier then?

A: i didnt pay for my x800, after building a friend a pc, and noticing the level of profit i was making, i put an x800 on the same order, and therefore, didnt pay for it! (i asked, so it isnt stealing, dont worry)

B: on getting my Saphire X800XT, and installing it, i realised that its actually an X800XT PE, as some of the earliest saphire cards were.

total cost : £365 delivered to my door by a friend.

total cost to me : 3 and a half hours building a pc + ordering time.

i also managed to get an OCZ powerstream out of the deal after it was discovered it wouldnt fit in the case.

Hope that's a good one for you.

I don't think its luck, its just gigabyte no longer manufactoring 9800xts. When you think about it, I doubt their cost to produce the x800's this year and the 9800s last year are too different, so to them its almost the same dollar value. Catch my drift?
