Passively aircooled FX 5800 rig => 26k

Well if Macci can have an outrageous 34K air cooled rig then here's my attempt but on a smaller scale :)

The FX 5800 at 500/1000 ran notoriously hot and was labelled the dustbuster due to the outward gassing fan on the heatsink which was very noisy. Well here is my totally silent 0 db version that allows up to 535/1180

Result is 26k and a new 2001 record :D

Ok, maybe the shed was not your average room temp, but still it shows the Papst 6212n fan is a mighty beast as it cools the very hot DDR2 memory on both sides of the card as well as the gpu.

Well the shed is a good place to keep the beer cool too.

I have one of those fans, but I have yet to find a Hole saw the approiate size :YIPPIE:

Absolutely incredible. I need to work on cooling my mem - that stuff is far, far hotter than the core - Nvidia wouldn't have ever needed the dustbuster for just the core.

Yes, the memory does get very hot as you mentioned above, with the cold air temps at present it is bearable, seems to overclock well on the memory without all that heat, up to 1180 with not artifacts, could probably push it higher.

I have gone off 3dmark03 since all the cheating went on, I do 05 though with my 6800 and have scored 6000 points.

I want to go and lie down ....
