Thanks for the news! I just bought an AA8 not long ago! If this news is true, I'll be at 250fsb for sure!
I think this means that the AA8-Duramax will be able to support 1066fsb processors, since 925X and 925XE are practically the same.
This reminds me of when i purchased the ASUS P4P800-D and found out that it unlocked a version of PAT that offered speeds greater than the P4C800. :D

This is old news. Asus discovered this "feature" months ago. Abit is simply following them. It only allows use of the stock multipler and 14, and it only works on certain chips.

umm no this is to unlock all multiplyers. abit also had the 14X multiplyer months ago.... something like 1 week after asus. damnit i hope they will do this to s478 boards aswell. doubt it though

There is no proof of that at all. I'd be EXTREMELY skeptical until Abit proves they have found a way to fully unlock Intel multipliers.
It is more than likely just the 14 multipler. The Inquirer article says they are following what Asus has already done. Asus hasn't fully unlocked any multipliers.

well i'm saying abit has already unloacked the 14 multiplier ages ago. and that unlock only works with certain CPU's (the ones that draw loads of energy)... so this is clearly something more isnt it?

Not necessarily. Yes Abit implemented the 14 multiplier a while ago, but did anyone really know about it? The only way you would know is if you dug down into their website, found the BIOS download page, read the extremely vague description, and downloaded it and tried it out. The reason we all know about it is because we read websites and forums like these where computer-savy people talk about this stuff. But not everyone does that.
Perhaps Abit is just now making public press releases touting what they've done so it will help sell their new boards. If you read the article about it on their site carefully, no where does it say that a range of multipliers are unlocked.
Don't get me wrong, it'd be simply awesome if Abit found a way to totally unlock the multipliers. But I'm skeptical because no one has EVER found a way to do so ever since the first locked Intel CPU was released.

Here is a link to Abits own site http://www.abit-usa.com/news/2004/20041109.php .
If you look at the example it seems that you can use all mutiples. But I guess that we will see soon enough :).
looks very intresting if abit has done it with all the multi plyers
