dfi infinity
xpm 2400 @ 2.5ghz
2x256 corsair value select @ 230fsb
fx5700le
40gig wd hd

and for all u intel gurus tell me what i might be able to get out of this system, i know they are not all the same but roughly an idea compared to my current system and on how well it will oc

abit ic7-g max2 - $135
P4 3.0E Prescott - $164
512 Kingston HyperX PC3200 - $80

Not flaming here, you came to the right place.

Not a bad price on that system. The video card is a bit weak for gaming though but it will work. You will also want 2x 256MB memory modules, not one 512. The motherboard suppports dual channel DDR.

see thats why i wanted to come here :) on my infinity right now dual channel does'nt really help me that much compared to single channel and i also know this varys from board to board but how is intel on this , does dual really give a boost?? i know on my nf7 it did but on my hofinity it does'nt do squat. and like i said i would get the fx5200 just for temp till i can save for 6800gt or x800. u think i should get some ch5 that might do 250ish with enough volts @ 2-2-2 or 2-3-2 ,3-3-2 timings or get some pc4000 or so that will do 250 @ 8-4-4-3?? i dont care to volt mod the board i get to shove 3.3-3.6 volts to the ram :)

yes i too think you've come to the right place. :D

as for the benefits of dual channel, P4's are said to do a little better, if I remember correctly. The problem is I never run in single channel on my P4 so I don't know. :D

but i tell ya I am highly impressed of the torque the P4 generates. Even at lowly mem clk of 215mhz @ cas222 6 @ 5:4 system clock ratio gives me a performance I never thought it was going to give. Approx. 2000 points of increase in 3dmark and slice down 5 sec. superPi compare to my previous AMD nf2 setup. That high clock isn't just there to show, it actually performs well.

what i like most about is it's got no bug. :D

I'd go for the lga 775 socket if you can afford it...

I would go with the system you mentioned...
It would be very upgradable at fairly cheap prices.

775`s are still over priced and not worth the diffence for an average user.

dual channel doesn't help out the AXP as much because of its FSB.
400mhz FSB=3.2gb theoretical limit
200mhz DDR RAM= same thing
dual channel sets the RAM transfer to a theoretical 6.4ghz
6.4gb can't go through 3.2gb
but it improves preformace, because you can't get 3.2gb on single channel stock RAM. with 400mhz FSB

now should i go for ram that does 250ish @ 222 or 232 or 332, say bh5,bh6,ch5 vs some pc4200 or so that does 8-4-4-3 ??
