WOW Open Beta Starts now!

FilePlanet depleted all there open beta keys in about an hour, in which the server died, screamed to life, died again, was getting hammered hard :stick:

It was a first for me, actually managed to squeek out a key for it, downloading the 2.5 gb client now, 500kbs and about an hour to go :toast:

Everyone still has a chance, http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ will be handing out an unknown amount of keys yet, unfortunately they're getting hit hard and the site is currently down.

I've been looking forward to this game for the almost 3 years since it was announced, supposed to hit store shelves 23rd of this month.

I'll try to update this thread with some screenshots and comments about gameplay. If anyone else is in on the open beta please feel free to add your :2cents:

I just run around leveling, people ignore me, I get bored & quit. Whats the point?

There was terrible lag yesterday too. The game is really boring, and the graphics are pretty bad too. I don't how you could keep yourself amused enough to level your character.

They had 500,000 Beta signups, Yeah the lag sucks, however, this IS BETA, and a final TESTING stage to workout problems with lag, etc.

Boring is a matter of opinion, and having played EQ, and knowing how much downtime there typically IS, I just laugh. Graphics bad? Here again an opinion, and mine is that the graphics aren't bad at all, pretty nice actually.

I really have to doubt you played any mmorpg, and spent much time doing so. If you think EQ2 is going to be any different, LOL@YOU, I've already heard downtime and gameplay is worse then EQ, opinions again. Every mmorpg I've played is essentially the same. And have the same basic elements.

As for keeping myself amused, everyone has different tastes, because you don't enjoy it doesn't mean a few hundred thousand people won't. The thing that will make, or break this game will be Blizzard, and the effort they put fourth into improvements. For it to be successfull it will need to be a constantly evolving world where content, gameplay, and graphical improvements come often, and CSR is taken seriously. All things typically NOT assosiated with EQ.

LOL, SWG is probably one of the buggiest and problem prone games I've tried.

For keeping myself amused, I grab a few fellow adventurers and raid the Deadmines :)
I think this MMO is better than any other I've played so far, which were EQ, Lineage 2, SWG and DAoC.

I've been in closed beta on the beta and PvP server for a while and have a 39 Priest, 40 Mage, and 50 Rogue. I have to say imo Priests rock, and that's what i'll be playin' on release. I decided not to lvl any one character to 60 because i wanted to get a good feel for the classes that i was likely to choose, and since it's beta you won't be able to keep any of the items u do aquire. I have this game pre-ordered and will likely be playing on an east coast server. The name of the priest will be Cautery... send me a /w if you see me runnin' round in game ;) .

Played the open beta on east20, mostly as mage but tried most classes a bit. Ofcourse we in europe have to wait 'til "early -05" before it's released here :mad:
thought the game was great! especially if you have a good guild to play with. with close to 50peeps it the guild it was always people around to party with :) pre-ordered CE..
