A couple of people have said that running a pelted card with H2O loop active, but pelt un-powered is fine for non-3D stuff. I have a dead 9500 as a result, and just wanted to warn everybody.
Card was running pretty good up until then.

yeah, thats pretty dumb someone would say that...
the cold plate will still absorb the heat just fine.
but the pelt in the middle will make the heat slow down from disapating to the waterblock. a pelt in the middle of a cold plate and waterblock, when unactive, is just a blockade for the heat.
if your gonna use pelts... you should keep them active.

a pelt with no power would be a heat insulator

Yes, a very good insulator, in that situation heating one side and keeping the other colder, you can actually produce energy, so the lack of heat from the waterblock goes somewhere...

Took about 1 hour and card actually still runs. It just wont run 8 pipes anymore, and only does 440 core.

That's a shame! This topic has been covered before. Apparently those who posted were not actually experienced in using pelt set ups.
Sorry for the loss.
Warning to others....a non powered pelt is a no no!

well, it wasnt running 3d i guess, so....
Have you checked to see if the core didnt just "unsolder" the 4pipe/8pipe capacitor? Or are you using the softmod?

SteVil card was softmodded. It is interesting that it will run 4 pipe perfectly fine.

Well, if it fell off it could be the cause.
