Yea I heard about that frontpage here in the states. It was on a local radio station. The DJ's where saying, "UK don't come running to us when you need help, 53million dumb americans arn't going to help you now!"
I think they have to change that number. CNN.com has 59,456,963 votes for Bush. And military votes haven't been counted yet. Almost 60 million for Bush.

what i like are the differences in states that the candidates win...
all of the US's best schools (where the smartest people live) are in the northeast and on the west coast (with the exception of Northwestern and a few others)... regardless, Kerry swept the intellectual areas of the country... so what does that show? probably that democracy is bad idea because there are less smart people.
so 53 million americans may be that dumb... but the other 48% of us aren't, and we'd still help out the UK (we're the ones you'd want to help you anyway).

exactly the reason Kerry lost. You say someone is dumb, you better watch out. What do they say about payback?

Bashing political views is, im afraid, a million miles away from helping terroism :stick: If a country votes and the outcome is like 51% to 49% then doesnt that seem pretty split to you already?

eshbach, anyone can quote or post off the 'net, doesn't make it true. See my sig' ;)
Check out http://www.sq.4mg.com/SATstates.htm
Know this, your chart isn't necessarily true, nor is the data in the link I provided. An estimate can be based on almost any criteria, and there aren't any authoritative sources for U.S. nationwide IQ scores.

1. The act of evaluating or appraising.
2. A tentative evaluation or rough calculation, as of worth, quantity, or size.
3. A statement of the approximate cost of work to be done, such as a building project or car repairs.
4. A judgment based on one's impressions; an opinion.
eschbach, your post.... are you saying the people in the states that Bush won are umm stupid or dumb?
State #3, New Jersey. I proudly voted for George W. Bush. I can also say if our governor would have allowed for a special election since he resigned, New Jersey would have went to Bush.

The most interesting stat there is the "% of HS grads taking SAT"
I think this means the % of students who take the test.
Now compare this to the Bush kerry listings.
Taking the highest % states as im too lazy to compare them all.
Alaska 49% = BUSH
New Hampshire 70% =KERRY
Washington = 47% = Kerry
Coneticut 79% = Kerry
Massachusetts 80% = kerry
Maryland = 64% = Kerry
Oregan = 50% = kerry
California 45% = Kerry
Vermont 70% = Kerry
Virginia 68% = Bush
Maine 68% = kerry
New Jersey 69% = Kerry
Florida 48% Bush
New York 73% = Kerry
Indiana 57% Bush
Hawaii 54% = Kerry
Rhode Island 69% = Kerry
Texas 48% = Bush
Delaware66% = kerry
Pennsylvania 71% = kerry
North Carolina 59% =Bush
Georgia 63% = Bush
D.C. 50% = Kerry
South Carolina 57% Bush
Ok... as you can see.
States that have a higher number of SAT takers generally vote kerry..
Where as states with lower numbers of SAT takers tend to vote Bush.
What this means depends on how you look at it.
Firstly this isnt a good cross section of voters as its only based on one age grouping (1998) but the stats are interesting.
You could assume that Kerry apeals to better educated people.
Or you could look at it that Bush appeals to the working man who didnt have the oppotunity to persue higher education.
Interesting anway..
Dont you just love stats, you can make them say whatever you want if you jumple them up enough.

Obligatory old man saying: There's lies, d*mn lies and statistics :)
Did you know that there is more pollution in the counties that voted for Kerry than in the counties that voted for Bush? I'm serious. Look it up.
