anyone who hasn't heard paganini's 24 caprices for violin, those are amazing.

Classical anyone? Classical is

For a catchy, brassy piece, listen to Sheherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov

For loud stuff try Bruckner 6 and 8

If you want a song of epic proportions, try Mahler 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8.

i have plenty true smoke deizel

the lyrics for fallen silent
Close enough to paste the picture on tight -
centered on the one thats dripping down.
Holes, once showing bitter, breathing blacklight
sputter out and cease to make a sound.
Shrinkwrap, it seems redeems it's former ignorance -
blindly binding where everyelse has failed.
The pipes that hold the anger with indifference
slam it down like a coffin nail.

Pain, the pain i feel when its going down.
Listen to the line, as its winding down.
Stain, the stain that grows as its dripping down.
The mouths that cried my name have fallen silent.

Out in the hailstorm that's my life,
the voices blow my brain out like a 9.
I pull hard on my will and my fleshknife.
I'd hate to be the one who missed that sign.
Torture, it seems, redeems it's former self-control -
blindly bleeding and burning out my rage.
I know I can stand. I know I can cope.
I know I can take. I know I can deal with the -

(chorus, chorus)

I know why I love Xtreme so much......look at all these metal heads. Fallen, I saw Sepultura about 15 years ago in Minneapolis,MN. Are they still together?
One band that goes way off the the norm is Primus. I love Primus and they have to be my favorite band to date.......have held on to my heart through my ears for the longest time. I'm also privy to......
Iron Maiden
mudvayne
Godsmack
Slayer (first two albums)
metallica (old stuff....new stuff is total $h1t)
Mercyful Fate
Slipknot

Still love some of this stuff....
Deicide
Cannibal Corpse
Voivod
Anthrax
Overkill
BioHazard

My heart sank when I heard the news of Dimebag Darrell. I saw Pantera many years ago at 1st Ave in Minneapolis with Megadeth and Slayer. My friend worked at the Ave and we partied with Darrell and Vinny for hours afterwards. He was such a cool individual. At the time, they were pretty well unknown. Dave Mustaine was a total a$$, thought he was a real bada$$.....thought he was some martial arts expert or something and said he knew Dim mak......yeah, right.

Hell, I can listen to a lot of stuff. I even have David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Talking Heads, etc....

One thing I cannot stand is country music.....(pukes in trash can next to desk).

I know why I love Xtreme so much......look at all these metal heads. Fallen, I saw Sepultura about 15 years ago in Minneapolis,MN. Are they still together?
They're still together except for Max Cavalera, he had a dissapoint with his bro (drummer) or something, he left Sepultura for SoulFly, a very good Metal band even better than current Sepultura, their new vocal guy doesn't stand a chance to Max, though I will always love Sepultura, perhaps 'cos Brazil is in my heart being portuguese and all...

EDIT: I just saw Macci loves metal too it's to good to know that we got something in common aside OC, Craddle of Filth is one of my favorite Black Metal bands

Vile (grindcore) speed and really good change ups.
skinless (grindcore) technical slow to fast, awsome drummer.

The only radio station I regularly listen to is Philosomatika (http://www.philosomatika.com/).
It's psytrance. My friends usually call me insane for listening to that kind of music but I love how sounds simple yet it's very complicated when you listen more carefully :)
Very good psytrance songs are Vibes from the other side by Paps, Counting Spirals by Hujaboy, Jajo by California Sunshine.

Other than that one of my favorite songs ever is Careful with that axe Eugene by Pink Floyd. That's one masterpiece of a song. I love the 70s Pink Floyd stuff, the Echoes and Dark side of the moon albums should be in everyone's record collection.

Also I listen a lot of Nightwish, best song by them is probably Nemo (also the orchestral version). I have all their albums and that one's really my favorite, it gives me the shivers every time I hear it :)

Some more stuff I regularly listen to: Ozzy, Sepultura, Soundtrack of our Lives, Neuk! (dutch), Wizzy Noise, The Delta, X-Dream, Toi Doi, Spirallianz, Juno Reactor, Growling Mad Scientists.

"let the bass kick!!!". did you know he has a MIDI bass i.e he can program his drum beats using his bass guitar, just for the fun of it :). as for shadow, saw him live in liverpool, he had 3 massive video screens behind him and a small camera over every one of his 4 decks, and his sampler, so you could see exactly what insane **** he was pulling off. if ur into DJ Shadow, check out a hip hop collective called Quannum. particularly the UK radio one breezeblock set. is shadow spinning with another DJ, and 3 MCs just going sic for 47 minutes. is incredible.

I'm really weird with music. Some days I'm in a trance mood, some says some hip hop, some days rock/punk. It's usually trance and punk.

Who I usually listen to:
Mindless Self Indulgence, Thrice, Groove Coverage, Strung Out, Armen Van buuren, 36 Crazyfists, The Killers, 3GB of random trance, all different artists, Screaming Monkey Boner (no, seriously), MC Chris, Audio Karate, DJ Krush, Random In The Groove music (a game), Pennywise, Benny Benassi, a few from Celldweller, In Flames, Spineshank, The Cardigans, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Del The Funky Homosapian, Wu Tang Clan, Method Man, Old Dre and Snoop (late 80's to early 90's)

I'm suprised some of those aren't listed :O

Lollipop Lust Kill

The're a pretty new band, but they can hold up against the likes of Slipknot or Mudvayne easily. Just check out the transitions between the parts in their song House of Love, the parts where they really pick up the pace are pretty generic, but the transitions between the intenser parts are fantastic. Their other songs are really nice too, but the transitions in House of Love really stand out as unique.

Steve Vai (Buy Passion & Warfare or Alien Love Secrets)
Joe Satriani (Try out Crystal Planet and Surfing with the alien)
Yngwie Malmsteen (Just get Rising Force. Nuff said.)
Jason Becker (Perpetual Burn)
Marty Friedman (Music for speeding or Dragon's Kiss)
Cacophony (Get Speed Metal Symphony if you can, it's a bit rare)
Racer X (Technical Difficulties)
Paul Gilbert (Uhhh, I don't own any Paul Gilbert CD's, but get the one with Down to Mexico if you can)
Dream Theatre (Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a memory)
Liquid Tension Experiment (LTE Volume 1)
John Petrucci (He has only got one solo release, I suggest you pick that up, forgot what it was called though)
Shawn Lane (Powers of ten, it's out of print, so you probably won't find it anywhere)
Greg Howe (Introspection)

All very roughly sorted by genre.

EDIT: Added recommendations in brackets.

EDIT 2: If anyone wants to hear some Paul Gilbert or Racer X, look on www.racerxband.com in the videos and music section. They've got TONS of videos. I'd recommend you download the clip from "Paul Gilbert's Terrifying Guitar Trip", btw, if you don't know, the intro song to Terrifying Guitar Trip is Technical Difficulties from Racer X.

I can say that the new Foo Fighters cd is also quite good. It's not quite as "mtv friendly" as their previous one, doesn't have the same impulse as "There is nothing left to lose", but nonetheless a very good album.

Otherwise Pink Floyd "The Final Cut" is absolutely brilliant, going through my father's tapes at the moment.

Korpse, I disagree that Hit the Lights is a typical metallica song. I would rather give the people "Master of Puppets", as hit the lights is after all from Kill em All and is still rather speed-metal (not to mention rather crap voice Hettfield had at the time) opposed to the slightly more death-obsessed stages following with Ride the Lightning and onwards.

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock are always a good to watch ;)

Disney Land After Dark.

DAD.

GREAT Danish!

GOTTA hear it, great music.

Recommended CD's:
No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims (1989).
Scare Yourself (2005).
Riskin' It All (1991).
Psychopatico (1998, Live CD).
Helpyourselfish (1995).
Everything Glows (2000).
Simpatico (1997).
Call Of The Wild (1986)
Draws a Circle (1987).

Their best records IMO, though all of them are great.

Special got to hear songs:

Sleeping My Day Away (Video version at DAD's jukebox, best one).
Scare Yourself.
Laugh n'a'½.
Simpatico
Empty Heads.
Home Alone 4.
Lawrence Of Surburbia.
Bad Craziness (Watch the movie, truely is Crazy :D ).
Helpyourselfish (Also watch the movie, you see abit of Copenhagen/nightlife plus its one the best songs they've made).
Reconstrucdead (What happens when yopu put 4crazy danes on Iceland in 35c hot water and -2c air? You get one hell of a music video).

The specials are some of their greatest, though Sleeping My Day Away is probs their best track ever made, though all of these are some of the tracks they have gottan LOADS of succes with (Sleeping My Day Away rocked alot of the US in '89/90).

Well, if youre gonna classify this type of music, then its rock, though many of the tracks got their own style known as "Cow-Punk" as they called as its a mix of Country and Rock. :D

Goto www.dad.dk and press on the jukebox thingy to listen to some of them.

EDIT:

I did some research, the only way to get the records i dunno. Scare Yourself is gonna be released in Germany some time this year, and it's a MUST have... My favorite album.

Trace Bundy, the Acoustic Ninja. He does things with a guitar that are just incredible. He plays the melody with his left hand on the fret board, and then adds percussion and bass with his right. And then he'll switch it up on you just to confuse you! He has free audio clips and movie clips at his website, just listening to the audio doesnt do his style justice, although it still sounds amazing. www.acousticninja.com

P.S. He's a local, small-town Colorado guy who completely depends on his music to earn a living, and he's just about the nicest guy I've ever met.

omg xs - 4 pages and only 1 avenged sevenfold mention? - they are quite honestly brilliant

sounding the seventh trumpet - evil and heavy - but some melodic bits, currently my most played album

waking the fallen (<av) - every song is a master piece, seriously, listen to and all things will end, desecrate through reverance, second heartbeat - and of course part 1 and 2 to get the feel

city of evil - listen to this last, and keep listening even if you dont like it, sound is very different for 2 reasons

1) lead singing burst a blood vesle in his vioce so screaming is a at a minimum

2) you cant top waking the fallen at its own game

the key to listening is to find a couple of songs you like from 1 of the albums, then instaed of just listening to that song, let the album play through to that song, every time you want to listen to it - and youll love evry song

bands that i have seen who i listen to are killswitch enage (alough nothing on fold) odd bit of maiden and metalica

another band - inme, excellent kinda wierd sounding at times, but listen to the guitar on crushed like fruit and youll fall in love as i did, also listen to otherside from there new album

edit: nice sig korpse

I have some Progressive bands that I'd recommend to have a look at (esp. if you get into 7+min songs with psychedelic overtones) :

The Flower Kings - Swedish prog rock gods, still going strong now
Camel - very groovey english prog, (from the 70s?)
Frank Zappa - how was he not listed? not "really" prog, but interesting none-the-less
Under The Sun - I really liked this band's first release, think they may be broken up now

HAHA, gwar is so funny. Havn't listend to them, but have read about them. I read this on theyr webpage : "GWAR returns with a devastating 20th anniversary tour, damning all humankind to an eternal doom of pus-drenched necro-bestial nasal violation!" seems funny... :D

Bah, I think Nightwish is rather boring. I liked it when I was 14/15years old. But now it's just booring

Edit:
Haha, found a lot of norwegian bands at the first page. Burzum for example, that is a crazy band. The vocal is now in prison for have murdered a man and burned down serval churces. He is actully nazi and he worships satan. But I have heard the music is kinda good if you like black metal.
