Theres what I'm at right now. Lobby high sucked so I should be able to get a few more points from that. I'm running win XP pro with SP2 and DX9 and I'm not gona reformat with win XP home for DX 8.1 nor do I have win 2k. I have A64 tweaker set to 2-8-12-2-2-5-2-2-1-1. Can I lower any of those or will that not make a difference? I'm running 3x HT multi but I'm 99% sure I could run 4x. Should I try that? I'm a bit unsure on that because the stickey in the AMD section shows LOWER HT multi scoring HIGHER

Maybe now that its colder out (8C outside but around 16C ambiant in my room with the window wide open :stick: ) I can run 580mhz core on the card and get 2.55ghz on the CPU but I dont think I can take the hardware much further without better cooling or voltage mods. I WANT to VDIMM mod and put a floppy connector on my 9600XT for power but I dont have the resources at hand to do that. So I guess I'm looking for some windows tweaks or something. I'm already running in real time with explorer closed.

Drivers... I'm using the drivers that came on the CD with the chaintech board. Probley crap right? Should I get the latest from Nvidia? What about the ATI drivers? I'm running the 4.10s right now and using radlinker for OCing. All my D3D settings are set to performance.

Oh and cooling is stock CPU heatsink with a smartfan2 sitting on top (around 80CFM) and stock on the video card. I cant really figure out how to get this 1U cooler or a stock AMD HSF to fit on the card :\ The AMD sinks are to big and the 1U server cooler thing is to thin to drill bolt holes in. Theres just the fins. No copper base to drill holes in. I GUESS I could give it a try but I'd rather not risk killing the card.

Thats kind of the beauty of 3dmark01, so many tweaks and changes you can do to score those few extra points. Have you tried different drivers?

ok the best thing you can do is go out to a computer show or anywhere and buy a small HDD, all you need is enough space to install win2k, 3dmark, rivatuner and drivers. I say 2.1 gigs even. should cost a few bucks. Dedicate this your 3dmark hdd like I have. Mines 15gb and being used for nothing but 3dmark. Borrow your friends win2k disk to boost your score by 300-500 marks. If you cant do this the next thing is lower your multi to 9x, raise the fsb and run your ram async. This will get your ram higher. a third option is vmod the ram on your card

Ram is already async
read my thread on the AMD section to see that I cant POST with a 9x multi
I dont have win2k nor know anyone with it and I'm to lazy to get it ;)
this is a dedicated bench rig for now but I'm lazy
I already said I dont have the stuff I need to Vmod and I'm a bit scared of doing it. Hopefully I'll order some wire and VRs tommorow.
Havent tried different drivers yet. Tommorow I guess.

I got 16.8k but it wouldent upload because their servers are/were swamped so I saved it and hopefully it will still work tommorow :P I'm done benching for the night.

After you install Win2k, check out this site for some service tweaking so you are running only the services required for a 3DMark run. Service tweaking XP improved my 2k1 score by close to 600 points. :toast:

hes right, try tweaking your xp. I gained nothing tweaking win2k since its already fast to begin with and not all bloated like xp is. tweaking xp gains alot more than tweaking 2k since 2k basically is tweaked to begin with :)

"ok the best thing you can do is go out to a computer show or anywhere and buy a small HDD,"

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

wouldn't you be limiting your possible max performance because a smaller drive like you describe would be ATA33 or 66 (smaller=older), thus being slower on the ide bus transfers and HD/swapfile usage during benching?

maybe i am wrong on thiis, i haven't really tried what you are describing, i am drawing from my experience with the older drives, there is a overall system performance drop with the slower drives.

correct me if i am wrong, please...........

baldy :D

i tried with an old ata-33 drive 2.5gb
no difference in superPi/3dmark
only thing it takes forever loading windows :)

I cant stay up tonight to bench (school tommorow) so 17k will have to wait. I'm about to take the card down to "the lab" (read:my basement :p: ) for some cooling mods.

Well I found my Dtek waterblock but I cant find my sand paper and its scratched to hell. I started cutting up some ram sinks for the card but my dremel battery died. Gona get me a corded one tommorow. So for now I remounted the stock HSF with cremique. Stock was making blah contact.

I know I can. I just need better cooling. I just pulled my rad box out and if I can get my maze4-1 on the card I'll be flyin. Gota finish downloading World of Warcraft beta and back everything up on my brand spankin new 120 gig HDD so I can swap over to the a64 rig full time.
