22K on air w/ XP-M & 9700 Pro

Hehe, took me a lot of work guys, but finally got it :)

Low ambient helped out. My rig actually has a little bit left in it, but I'm not gonna bother eeking out those last few points b/c it won't be worth it IMO and the milestone has already been broken. I know it's not really all that impressive compared to what everyone else is used to today, but I think it's decent for the hardware that I have :p: After all, it's working with what ya got, right? ;) I had hoped to score 22K with this rig, as I have been hoping to upgrade to A64 + 6800 this holiday and I figurered that would be a good score to retire my rig with. Truthfully, I'm suprised at my GFX card. It's a Rev 1.0 that only did ~350MHz with stock cooling, lol :rolleyes: Not the best of clockers to say the least. The mem is decent however, it did 351 artifact-free stock with cool air, after custom ramsinks it does 364MHz art-free, needs more volts IMO now. The core sorta sucks, but I forced it to clock :D ALX-800 + 80mm Tornado + 1.9v :devil: Artifact-free, though I think I'll definately have to lower the clocks some to run 03 and 05 without arties.

So what you guys think? I've tried pretty hard for this score....

Nice. :toast: Getting nearly 23K with my 9800XT was hard enough. I can imagine what 22K with a 9700 Pro must be like. Great job!

Yeah most hardware sites declared that a 9700 pro would last well into 2006 until the next genenration of consoles come out (triggering the next generation of graphics cards aka R520)

nice score man! Im only beating you in 3 tests(you know which lol) nice 146fps nature! Thats faster than a 9800xt too! Very nice 9700pro clocks! many people cant break 22k with an a64, me included and you do it with a barton!

Thanks, it took a lot of work and honestly I never at all expected my 9700 would reach this high :eek: Especially since it's a Rev 1.0. But this cooling exceeded my expectations to say the least :D

No, I thought about it, but there is no way in hell I can squeeze another 1K points from this.....my card just isn't good enough :( 2 guys I know have 23K on air with Barton&9800, Stevehat1 and Stang_Man. Both are running very similar sys power to me, but their GPU clocks leave meh in the dust. Stang had 52X/420 for his run iirc, and Steve was at 533/407. Mayeb those aren't the exact figures but I'm pretty sure I'm close. They both had about ~170fps Nature, which is a far cry from my 146fps. So no, sadly 23K is well outta range of my Rev 1.0 ;)

Thats why I hate winxp. I know you cant match a 9800xt unless this poor sap has one that wont overclock then yes. I have bad luck overclocking ati cards and instead of wasting hundreds of $$$$$ buying and selling 9700 pros to get one thatll match your overclocks, ill just stick to my $80 9500np and save that $ for a winchester and I hope to then beat your score anyway ;)

Yeah but you still wont be able to play with higher resolutions and AA, that is why even if your gf4 manages 25k with a 4ghz a64 os something you wont be able to use all the cool feats of new games..

Altough this is about 3dmark so who cares about accual gameplay :P

Once more really nice score, gotta try and get those 2 fps thats missing.. man i wont sleep tonite :P

Hehe, thanks HP :D I know what ya mean about these drivers too....remember back when I 1st got this XP-M before last summer? I was asking you about tweaks, and thought I was doing okay when I had 17.3K stock :p: Now I'm a cool 500 points above that, and that's definately not my skillz at work there, lol. Drivers have really improved. I have no doubts that if you put your mind to it, you could break 18K stock with AXP & 9700 and the right HW :)

And yeah, I'm REALLY intrigued by this tweak the |Ricky| & Pedro found (and which Macci & OPP now have)....however I don't know anything about it? :confused: I have Win2K, but for normal use I'm on XP and right now I really don't have time to go looking for it :( Which sucks as it looks like pretty decent gains.

Do you know what it is HP? Not asking ya to tell me, just wondering.

Yes, I figured it out.

Its so blatantly easy too, and I have no idea how to explain why it works other than Windows is total crap at arbiting resources. :)

I'll PM the tweak to you. It gave me 6 FPS car high on a crap install. :D

Its not Standard PC, but :banana::banana::banana::banana:, there are only so many drivers to pick from. ;)
