Why do so many people have cats in their avatars?

Look, I like cats. I really do.

But why do so many people have cats in their avatars? It seems both irrelevant to extreme hardware, and a little, well, feminine. :stick:

Cats are funny to look at, they can be dumb and smart in the same time.

Because cats are cool. Mine play fetch, go for walks without a leash, roll over when asked politely, and they love computers. They have very distintive personalities, and can be mean, sneaky and dangerous when provoked. ;)

because cats are almost people, theyre all characters with distint personalities, and they can actually relate to you, and you to them.

also theyre furry and cuddly, and... purr a lot :D

I'm gonna have to take a picture of my cat aswell. They are simply the best pets there are IMO.
It's not about masculinity or femininity, it's hard to project those values on animals because they are not one or the other in the same way as we are. Amongst spiders the female is masculine then?

my friend has a dog, my other friend has fish, anotherone has a dog, then you've got me with 8or 9cats! there great, they hang around me. Some follows me everywhere (the one in my pic)
They're great. Some are pigs tho. At one point one of my cats needed a "wide load" sign stuck on his rear. lol
