That's not a good way to strat this all out! I hope they come back soon... or ve might have to shoot off a couple PM's!

I'm really surprised at a few of them. One being the all-time leader in posts. ;)

Not really trying to shame anyone into crunching... I just find it strange to see people stopping already. Seems like we're doing great just rocketing up the charts so it can't be that it's boring...

Oh well... we'll just have to get more people interested(and then hooked!!!).

Saaya doesn’t like us anymore :(

he he he... he explained that he has been having serious hardware issues. I'm sure he will come back bigger and better. He also helps the team in other ways than putting up points... so it's all good.

That's right... something with his hard drive corrupting. I don't really read much else on XS.org except for the forsale forum. But I do remember skimming over his post about that.

So what about the other 11. :) (just picking guys... no offense meant)

I had it on my freinds rig for testing but it was being dumb.. so it never made it to my rig.

Just chugging along on seti like I have been forever.

Why cant any of the new distributed computing projects make clients and such as varied and usefull as seti has?? I'm sure TONS more people would run stuff like this if they could get a command line version and then a program like setihide which queu's up as many wu's as you please and handles all the neat stuff without lagging your puter up or being hard to set up...

Thats what gets me above most other things.. they are never "easy" to set up.

Wow... SETI@Home... it's been a long time for me since I crunched any of those work units. What team are you on? I used to crunch like a madman for Team Phoenix Rising. That was the place I got hooked on DC projects and online life in general. ;)

I agree to a point. The original S@H has sooo many clients. BOINC on the other hand... bluck! :(

If you ever get the urge to try something else again... we'll be here. :D

Will you crunch D2OL if it's easy... out of the way... and hidden?? I'm working on an installer where all you have to do is "Hit any button to continue” (It addresses every problem you were talking about)… It’s tested and works... I just need to package it and find a place to host it.

:D We need the man powa! XS is smoken through the ranks... but it's just not... What's the word for it... XTREME enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out this thread and you will see what I'm working on atm...

We would all love to have you with us! It's nice to see the XS community pull together for this!

I would definately run it if it were easier to use. Does the client the installer installs use that damn java client still? It was lagging up the "test" machine really bad even with d2daddy..

As to seti@home team, i'm doing it for lanageddon.com

http://setiathome2.ssl.berkeley.edu/fcgi-bin/fcgi?email=stevil@attcanada.net&cmd=user_stats_new

EDIT

Seti systems:
P1 233mmx @ 250 (36hrs/wu)
P3 500 @ 550 (11hrs/wu)
XP1800+ (5hrs/wu?)
XP-M2500+ @ 1.8 (3hrs/wu?)
XP-M2500+ @ 2.3 (2.25hrs/wu)

Have a 1700+ XP-M too, but its not set up, and my A64 2800+ is still being played with ;)

Not particularly high stats, but I started out on a P1 233mmx @ 250mhz ;)

D2OL only uses java for the GUI... The installer installs it as a service so there is no GUI... no system tray icon... no nothing! Totally hidden and out of the way! It also installs D2OL daddy as a service... no tray icon... No nothing!

The client is pre tweaked for max points and the whole bit! It doesn’t get any easier... You don't even need to register an account! It's all setup with an XS community node!

And for those who want to fold under there own user name I'll create another set.

STEvil

Nice, I like it :D

I have a username on there alread, but it has a dead node I guess.. heh.

Rodzilla
10-30-2004, 08:04 PM
did you happen to make a backup of the node.prp file? I could make an installer that uses that node and your account.

So what are your plans to make your D²OL score resemble your Post count??? You need to show us all how it's done! :D

I am not folding atm because the powerbill for last month came, and I am feeling very sorry for those having to pay it :p: So I'm try to cut down on electricity use a bit. Once it gets a bit colder, and I need more heat in my room, d2ol all day :D

STEvil

There are only 9 inactives since the start of the contest. Of those, at least 3 (Matshui, Saaya, tedpennings) have said they will run D2OL again. So that leaves 5 (if STEvil joins up). 5 isn't too bad, but maybe someone should drop those 5 a PM to see why they quit?

lalPOOO
10-31-2004, 12:56 PM
No, it wasn't that my folding was really making a big impact on the electricity bill, but I had been running an airconditioner, and a mini fridge, and some other stuff.... and so I feel kind of bad about that...

.:EDIT Rodzilla:. OT :D

But a have a Q,do you need a monitor and kb+mouse to run D2OL,to set it up yes,but one's its running cant a plug it out then,so that it keeps running with no monitor and kb+mouse, will it work like that,a never try'd it,have you guys done that this way.

Becaus at the end of the month a have an a64 that will be cruncing D2OL to but a have no monitor left,so a thought maybe it works like that then a dont have to by an other one.

PS2pcGAMER

Yeah, that will work fine.

I suggest you use VNC (www.realvnc.com) which allows you to monitor your computers remotely.

RocKer

Thanks, but then that pc as to be connected to the net isn'it or in a home-network and then a can use that vnc.

They said about a week... I shipped it a couple days ago USPS (Sorry for the delay in shipping. I had planned on shipping it UPS as I can do that While I'm at work... but they said it would cost $50 to ship!!!!!! I had no idea it would cost that much UPS :( So i had to find time to be able to get to the Post office before they closed... Which is impossible!)

Jeff
11-06-2004, 06:10 AM
The post office is the only way to go outside the US and Alaska/Hawai. DHL(aka the old Airborne Express) is the absolute fastest and cheapest way to go within the continental US. Under $4.00 to ship a video chip cooler from NY to CT and it got there in less than one day. ;) They also let you create your shipping labels and pay via credit card online. It's great to be able to estimate shipping costs and then just attach a label and go. You don't even need to stand around the DHL terminal when you drop it off... you just put it on the front counter and away you go. Can you tell... I http://www.adventurevision.com/forum/images/smiles/heart.gif DHL. ;)

RocKer is truly XTREME! Welcome to the dark side! he he he

@Everyone... The main cause of the high number of inactive users is the recruitment of people that just want to give it a shot and see if they like it... If they fall off the wagon we are stuck with inactive members...

THIS ISN'T TO SAY THAT WE SHOULDN'T SEEK MORE BODDIES!

From now on I would encourage you to point new members, that are trying the waters, to the "XtremeSystems_Community" account. Give them the link to the community node easy installers "http://www.adventurevision.com/ftp/Rodzilla/XSsoft.htm"... or tell them to use this e-mail to register "XtremeSystems@XtremeSystems.org" and I'll add the nodes to the community account.

When we get them hooked we can set them up with there own accounts and instruct them on how to easily move there Agents over to a personal account. (Just delete the node.prp file and it will ask for registration e-mail)

It's important to the feel of the team that we have a high percentage of members turning in work... Lean and MEAN!
