can you obtain good results (not expecting anything stellar) running 4x512 tccd? i have one gig in my computer currently and its not enough :( so when i upgrade to an a64 in the next month or so i think im going to need 2 gigs...

Never seen it done, but I am sure its possible, you *might* get good results if you wait a bit longer for an NF4 DFI motherboard, which will let you tweak the chipset timings to the limit and allow higher FSB, but there shouldnt be any problem with anyboard if you want to run..*gasp* stock :)

where would the fun be in running stock ;-) i intend to wait for nf4 as well suuppose ill just have to be the guinea pig :-)

4 512mb sticks won't overclock very well. Neither will 2x 1gb stick but it should run more stable. less load on the mem controller

The nF4 chipset is just an nF3 chipset with PCIe instead of AGP.
The A64 Mobos run just fine with 2 Gig. of memory.

Do you have proof of this?
Mine has a hard time with just 1GB, anthing after 250MHz gives huge numbers of errors. Each stick indivitually works fine at over 270MHz.

you just can't overclock as far when you run 2gb.

Corsair has done plenty of testing on A64's with 2 Gigs. and no errors. You can't run fast 2-2-2-5 timings because the memory is usually rated 3-3-3-8. Any time you increase the memory you're going to need to relax the timing for overclocking.

That pretty much defeats any gains you might get from an extra GB by switching from 250MHz @ 2-2-2 to 200MHz at 3-4-4.

Running more than 2 sticks means you cant OC so far..
With my own system I couldnt run 1T memory timing with 3 sticks.
That said I was still able to get the memory upto 250mhz with 3 sticks, just at 2T.
This is with 256mb sticks of BH5, but I thought id share as not many people have overclocked using more than 2 sticks on A64.

Wonder how much RAM you can give an A64. I know that how ever many teribite limit or what. But how much can you give it with out a preformance hit....mmm...

The most RAM 32 bit O/S's can address is 2 Gigs. You can install more but it doesn't increase performance. 64 bit O/S's break thru the 2 Gig. barrier. Then more RAM could help in programs that can use it like graphics intense apps.

Its a 4 Gig. limit for 32 bits but Windoze O/S's will only access 2 Gig. Sorry if I weren't clear on that !
