I finally decided to OC my FX55 after a full day of burn in. Here is what i did to overclock FX55 with MSI neo2 with 1.3 bios.

Cell specs: High Perf. Mode= manual
Aggressive timing=Disable
Dynamic Overclocking=Disable
Spread spectrum=Disable
HT Freq= 3x
Agpd Freq.=67

Running raid 0 on 3/4 sata slots , 1/2 are disabled in bios.

2x512 Corsair Pc3500c2 (bh5) rated 2-3-3-7 at 217fsb and was doing 2-2-2-5 at 217fsb on my Abit NF7-s before this upgrade.

In bios i set multi 12x217fsb at 2-3-3-7 and booted from floopy and ran memtest and passed 2 times. I then booted to windows without a problem, ran sandra and got 6636/6583 points then in about 30 sec while reading my system got a blue screen and pc restarted. I must admit overclocking on A64 is much harder then my previos NF7-s/2600xp-m.

There is one thing in bios im not sure about, In "DRAM Config" - ''max memclock (mhz), its set at auto, other options are 133,166,200. Im not sure what to do. Guys i need you to help me get the most out of my system.

Sorry, another puzzling question, can someone tell me why the 5th PCI slot is colored? Right now i have my sound card inserted there.

very good possibility that neo2 doesn't LIKE BH-5... DRAM config, is mem dividers, 200= 1:1
Try 1.3b6 BIOS, now that I think of it, OPP used BH-5 and it worked well....

Ok thank you charlie, I had no idea 200=1:1. So now, should i set it at 200 and set my fsb at 217fsb??

the neo2 doesnt play ball with BH5 unless you really hit it hard with voltage

use either the OCZ booster or a Vdimm/3.3V bypass mod and your BH5 will start to perform. 3.6V sees my KHX sticks doing 269 MHz with full aggressive timings in dual channel.

odd, the giga board was the same, must be A64 dual channel + BH5 just needs lots of juice. The S754 chips weren't so demanding of DIMM voltage.

My Mushkin bh-5 also performs very badly. Codered, after everything that happened with the Shuttle and blown cpu's has it now been shown to be a shuttle issue and now you can use more than 3.3v or so with little chance of blowing a cpu ? Losing an Fx-55 would be rather painful ;) :D

Try to OC it by multi at first to see where can it go.
Good luck ! :)

I dont know if it was a shuttle issue or just early A64's in general. You dont hear of too many dead chips anymore due to high Vdimm, but then again a lot of people are switching to lower voltage memory.

Figure out your memory problems/max speed and your cpu max speed independant of each other. If you try and do it all at once you will get mediocre results in the best case and pull all your hair out in the worst case.

i thought sata channel 3&4 were unlocked. 1&2 are locked afaik.
also if i remember correctly single sided bh-5 is a lot happier than double sided on the neo2

you have it backwards. sata channel 3&4 are locked and 1&2 are not.
