Ive been toying around with different OS'es and I have noticed in Windows 2000, CPU-Z shows Side Band Addressing as enabled, however in windowsXP and windows 2003 it shows Disabled

The difference in 3dmark 01 is about 500 points, could it be that SBA is responsible for the difference in the 2 OS'es? I prefer to use Win2k3 as its very fast and extremely stable, but it would be nice to get those 500 mystery points that win2k has :)

Is there a way to force SBA in win2k3/xp? or is it just the OS doesnt handle it or what?

Hrm...well I was kind of right! I figured out how to enable SBA in Windows 2003, and my 01 score went up by 200 marks! I think there is a bit more to this, I am going to keep poking and prodding for the next few hours :)

sba has nothing to do with the differences between different os'es afaik.

2k and 2k3 are faster than xp because xp has far more processes running in background and isnt tuned for speed.

Shouldn't be a diff in os, on nf2 platform, for example, you can turn sba on/off with WPCREDIT. May be other platforms as well.

My SBA is also disabled. Disabled by OS according RivaTuner :(

But I am running Window XP SP1. Maby M$ disabled SBA in SP1?

i think it is related to which graphic card you have. mine is enabled and i use ati. i think nvidia disables it by default

Nvidia doesn't disable it. My BFG Geforce 6800GT uses it.

Take a look at this screen shot.

Looks like it is disabled by windows/nvidia drivers anyway

Strange I don't have that screen in my drivers, I'm using 66.81 btw with Coolbits turned on. However, CPU-Z shows that SBA is enable. On the other hand my MB only supports AGP 4x, maybe that's why?

Im also using 66.81, an cpu-z shows disabled :(

But Kunaak seams to be running winxp without sp, right?. And sba is working. Maby sba only works in winxp (no sp)?

I just looked at mine in CPU-Z and it reports Side Band Adressing as disabled.

Does enabling it cause instability or anything like that? If not, 200 points would be nice. I'll check in my BIOS a little later. I can't be late for school, today! ;)
