I changed the latency and such on my RAM, and it makes my computer unbootable. So, I jump the CMOS, and reboot. Everything is fine, except... windows xp now takes an extra 20-40 seconds to get to the "type in your password screen." I've had this problem before, but does anyone know what might be causing it? A reformat fixes the problem, but I'd rather not reformat again (having just done it)

Search in bios under power management and under Advanced.

Changing APIC off or on causes windows to not boot, not to boot slow.

i used the bios (set BIOS to fail-safe defaults) and changed everything back to the way it was, and I did a checkdisk too. Working perfectly again :toast:
