I agree...we can't compete with that...we need Itanums and Xeons and FX-55 and 8 way Opteron boxes and Athlon XPS and 286s and 186s and a couple of those 10khz processors. lol

Never say never guys. ;) Keep the faith and just keep chugging away. Free-DC, in my opinion, is *the team* to beat. They are all seasoned and some of them have access to just stupid amounts of GHz. BUT... all giants must fall. And with enough involvement we can compete with them.

Well I am sure I won't be allowed to use any of the Uni computers for D2ol, if I would, then you wouldn't know what hit ya. Like 100+ P4 2.8ghz on only 1 of the more then 10 different buildings and the rest of the buildings have high tech stuff as well.

we need help...but how? This is my most powerful rig. (see sig) I don't know what else I can do....don't think teachers would be happy if every computer started running this...but hey. 10x P4s and everyroom has a computer (Athlon XP 1800)then the computer labs...so 40 or so 1800 and then more in the high school wing...so that'd be like another 25 or so. plus about 15 K5s...wonder what that would do for D2OL wish I could do that :(

if someone could put together sort of a summing up webpage, and explanations, why it would help, the lack of damage it does, a link to rodzillas quick installer, and maybe if someone creates a network installer? etc etc. then it might be possible for some people to show it to their uni/colleges/schools IT heads and try and get them interested.

i tried it with DF a while ago, and im not sure they really took me seriously about what it invovled. though the reason they gave me was they couldnt do it due to the security aspect. a comprehensive page might help though.

sayaa also mentioned something in another thread about possibly getting the d2ol people to send out official certificates to uni's involved, though this might not be possible. im sure it would be a bit of nice publicity for colleges anyway if they can say "we're helping find new medicines" in their monthly news letter and prospectus!


no idea if it would work / if its worth the effort finding out, but its an idea. id certainly have a crack at persuading the tech guys at my college to give it a try, but i dont fancy trying to explain in and email about it!

I think it's a great idea! We would have to figure out the logistics of it and see if there are in fact security issues. It's a lot of work that I would be happy to help with. Let me get the easy installer finished up and that will be one project off my plate. We need lots of web work done for the team too that I'm getting ready to start... It's getting hard to find time to sit down and work on projects atm... But things will soon be calming down.

We need to finish building this team to fit the Xtreme nature of XS. Many things to do. Luckily we have the time to do it! :up: This is the real deal! This will be our home for a very long time! :D

o'yeah I may add another comp to the team here soon. POSSIBLY. I have plans of getting my self a new motherboard...so I may get a processor and some RAM for the old board. depends on my funds if I will or not tho.

Yes we have a front page... but its been down ever since we got hacked :( Fugger is working on it ;) Stickies in the OC forums would rock! The would double our exposure for sure!
