Okay, So I've been overclocking my 3500+, at 2.41Ghz, 1:1, 230x10.5, 2.5-3-2 timings, at this point all benches are unstable and will error, the computer will not restart. My idle temps are about 50, load max is 65c ... which windows should still be stable at.. (right?)

So I'm still debating wether i should upgrade my cooling, if im still going to be topped out at these speeds?

There is alot of reasons why an OC could be unstable, like a bad chip, lack of voltage, hardware faults, wrong settings.. etc.

So what im basicly saying is, do you think these problems are caused by heat? or should i try other things before getting a new cooling setup

65 is too high what volt are you using?

ah your quick, i was just about to edit.. Im at 1.7Vcore
so 65c could be causing instability?

also, benches dont run long enough to get my true load temp, id imagine its like 15C more then idle, correct?

%99.9 heat is your problem if you ask to me.

Eek, I guess your right.

It's just last time i bought a custom heatsink for my 2.8C I got no better of an overclock.

Hopefully this time will be different ;)

Im thinking either watercooling or a XP-120.

I do have an A/C Unit available for me to play around with, I don't know if i could handle a chilled water unit yet though.

I would try a lower vcore 1.7 seems a bit high for just plain air you could probably hit 2.4 at 1.6-1.65vcore that would also lower your temps, if its not stable then better cooling might help you out

I can be stable at 2.58Ghz, but not at 1:1 - same timings.

2.2Ghz 1:1 210x11 STABLE
2.4GHz 1:1 220x11 UNSTABLE
2.58GHz 3:2 265x9.5 STABLE

all at 1.65Vcore

idle temps: 45c load: <55c

This makes no sense to me, does my ram need more volts or something?
It doesn't like 1:1 at anything over 210Mhz

So Im starting to think a new cpu cooler wont help me :S
