From FileShack.com:
* Fixed a crash with the ForkLift when loading some levels.
* Fixed a bug that prevented levels from loading after saving in a previous level.
* Returned surround 5.1 sound option to the menu.
* Fixed a mounted weapon traverse problem.
* Fixed problems related to shaders1.pak and scripts1.pak not being removed on installation of the patch.
* Fixed a delay relating to tagging enemies in binocular mode.
* Normal Map Compression. Requirements: NVidia: Geforce FX Family or better, ATI: x800 card or better. This feature is disabled by default. To enable it, type r_TexNormalMapCompressed 1 in the console after loading a level. Enabling this feature during the game may take some time - the PC may appear to freeze. This variable will not be saved when restarting the game. Enabling normal map compression will have prolonged execution the first time running through a level due to initial compression phase occurring in real time through the level. Subsequent reloads of the same level will yield better performance and therefore we recommend that you run any benchmark twice and to take the second of the two runs for benchmarking purposes since this most closely represents the usual user experience.
* SM 3.0 and SM 2.0x are now enabled by default when graphics settings are set to ‘Very High’. To see performance increases you must have Direct X 9.0c installed.
* Improved tangent-space calculation to improve bumpmap quality.
* Anisotropic filtering disabled for some textures (light-maps, several lookup textures, fall-off maps) for increased performance.
* When attempting to connect to PunkBuster regulated servers, make sure you are not running with –DEVMODE enabled. Run the Farcry.exe itself (not a shortcut) if you are unsure.
* If you are kicked from a PunkBuster enabled server with the reason “No packet flow”, make sure the Windows XP internal firewall is disabled.
* Improved syncronization in multiplayer.
* Fixed bug in leaning with different player classes.
* Fixed an invisible wall exploit in mp_freighter.
* Please ensure you have your graphics cards latest drivers installed.

more like an integrated tech demo in some parts of levels ^^
what is this HDR stuff people keep talking about?
can you point me to a thread or something where this hdr stuff is being discussed? i know hdri, but that's more or less a thing in the 3d-renderer world for creating kick ass lighting (amongst a bunch of other things).

I hate to do this... but the first post is good
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=824369&page=1&pp=20
Adds alot to the game imo, but needs alot more work to be right. The effect can be quite powerfull in some places.
ok, the piccy and vid-links there seem to be all dead, but from what i read it's all about lighting, so i guess it is after all hdri implemented into a game.
hm some call hdri high dynamic range imagery, other high dynamic (range) radiance imagery. what it basically does is lighten an object by its surroundings. you take a very wide fisheye lens (360° with a sphere is possible) and photograph the surrounding. this is then put into a map, and that is mapped onto your object. that is a very very compressed and not entirely correct <g> explanation of the process.
for more on this go here (http://www.rendermania.com/HDRI/) or google for hdri... you should be able to find enough about it.
after all this is "just" about creating way more realistic lighting scenarios/environments than ever before.

the hdr lighting def looks good but is way too much of a performance hog and looks painfully too bright in some areas. But it also makes textures look more defined as you up the resolution, too me at least. try Far Cry with HDR, ULTRA settings...and a resolution of 2048x1536 :slobber: :slobber:
Too bad even a 6800U can only do <20fps at those settings. It truly looks amazing.
care to take a screenshot of that 2048 thingy with everything set to ultra? i'd really love to see that as i don't have fc installed anymore (and to top if off, i've lend my game to a friend, for like the last 3 months or so ;) once i was done with it). must be real hot.. oh, and before you get stomped for posting uberbig pics, just link them. thanks!

hm judging by the pics posted by mini, big thanks for that mate!!, you're right on the brightness issue. seems a little bit strange. usually hdri is not about blowing up the brightness that much - especially not for all areas of a picture. looks like once you've enabled hdri with far cry, you need to turn down the overall brightness.
